Badass. I actually checked out your log a few weeks ago and saw you had some marys coming up. Way to break the barrier on a sub-par day. I can't wait to see what you do with some mojo in your system, Nardo! And kudos on the world-class speed pooping. As for me, I'm still running. I upped my mileage ...

After a stress fracture scare that turned out to be a sprained/injured extensor digitorum brevis muscle, I spent 10 days doing non-impact workouts and then started running again a few days before an evening Halloween-themed 5K race. Which I finished as the fastest adult. However, there were a bunch...

Another marathon, another necro. I just finished my third marathon yesterday. My "C" goal was 2:50, "B" was 2:48, and "A" was 2:45. I hit it in 2:45:35. I am pleased with the effort. That's a tough call, for you and the race officials. It seems like a wise move on their part to cancel the race, though waiting until this point for something that now seems inevitable is most unfortunate. Good luck in Philly. I hope this doesn't affect your goals.

Re: big_mara SCNP budgetcore

I ended up doing this even though I only get one stat day. As a side note, I screwed up three times and broke contest rules. For some reason, I thought the familiar limit was 1 million for softcore as well as hardcore. I used a rock lobster for 6 turns before checking to make sure I wasn't breaking ...

Re: big_mara SCNP budgetcore

I think you'll really appreciate those rations. Early leveling was a pain when I tried this. Bludgeon is an excellent leadin in my opinion. I think budget muscle should be played with uber-muscle. Ideally a bludgeon and a bunker. A zero-MP (or maybe 3 MP) combat suite will help MP management loads....

Re: big_mara SCNP budgetcore

I'll leave my original posting as a sort of expedition into my thought process. I've since realized that my previous pull list basically assumed a he-boulder and neglected to take advantage of the benefits of my constrained class selection and my lead-in (BM SC). Sadly, I don't have full brimstone s...

big_mara SCNP SC Budgetcore 3/637

I've never done this before (or even thought about it for that matter), so this could be quite interesting. I'm posting my current pull thoughts (to be finalized tomorrow) along with a rough estimate of my budget. I slapped these together in about 20 minutes, so my pull list is probably terrible. Le...

Re: Less Seal Clubbing, More Book Clubbing!

I was flipping through one of the volumes of PKD's collected stories, and I came across one called "The Pre-Persons" . . . I had completely forgotten about it, or didn't bother to read it back when I bought the book, but it's a pretty incendiary anti-abortion story about a near-future society where...

Re: Less Seal Clubbing, More Book Clubbing!

I have mixed feelings about this one. It really caught my interest in the first half and from there just left me confused. After finishing it, I felt like he was trying too hard with an otherwise interesting concept. I really don't have a lot of experience with science fiction, so it could be that I...

Re: Less Seal Clubbing, More Book Clubbing!

I just read the first few pages (that are available on amazon) and I've got to say that this thing appears worthwhile for the illustrations alone.

Re: Twilight Heroes

Just started playing this ten days ago. I'm thoroughly impressed. I think that any fans of kol (NS11 in particular) would certainly dig playing this. It's similar to kol in a lot of ways, but it's much more user friendly in that Ryme takes player suggestions very seriously. A lot of the problems I s...

Re: Fantasy Football 2010

I'd assume it's based on rank, which is based on record and points for. Looking at it that way, it appears that the last spot is still very much so up in the air. I personally think kujjie is likely to take the spot, as aqua will likely lose to hades and kujjie should be able to put away alrik's inj...

Re: Less Seal Clubbing, More Book Clubbing!

This discussion reminded me of those myers-briggs tests they made us take in high school. I was an INTP, the first letter of which means introvert. I knew I was an introvert, but one or two of the other three scales were a little surprising to me. (N is intuitive, vs. S sensing, T is Thinking, vs. ...

Re: infern0's SCNP 2/465

Very impressive run. Wow. Just an awesome run. Only question I can think to ask is: why bother spacing out the shore trip? You're giving up some stats (or potentially ice cubes, or a clover, or whatever) in exchange for not having to Juju-kill one more tower guy? The stats seem pretty minimal to me....

Re: Less Seal Clubbing, More Book Clubbing!

I choose you, slaphappy snark! We can keep discussing Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs of course. :D Eek! Do we have any kind of guidelines? Based on /clan, I thought we were reading fiction, but then we didn't (not complaining, despite what I said about the book...)--is it now "anything not too heavy th...
