Re: Raccoon's thread of (mostly fiction) book reviews

That's a great series, Manny. I haven't read the new one yet ("First Last Snow", is it?), but I've really enjoyed the others, particularly "Full Fathom Five" and "Three Parts Dead". If you're enjoying those, you might like Robert Jackson Bennett's "City of Stairs", which is more fantasy-novel-y but ...

About LFM forcing, the 3 turns in the ice peak can also be used to delay the wandering monster, as well as the chateau painting, ice sculpture, and some other places I can't think of because I haven't done that trick myself. If you only get a single clover day 1, consider not getting sonars Ascending without a 2-clover day is tricky. Gordito, how was your leveling? In particular -- and I did the same thing in my best HCP to date; yours was a few turns faster, so I'm not sure this would have helped -- could you have postponed the Spooky Woods past the tavern unlock for when the ballroom was set? I think in retrospect, knowing it would be 1-clover days throughout, you probably could have made daycount by saving the clover you used in the Bathole for ores on D2, although then you would have spent turns farming bridge parts because Jick hates us.
