Re: Lady Kirie's 9-skill AoJ run. Comments/Advice welcome! D

I'm not a hardcore expert, but that looks pretty good to me. The one thing I will mention is you may want to be careful when it comes time to pick up a chaos butterfly for the tower. I know it used to be a trivial tower item, but the non-combat that gave it was removed from the revamped giant's cast...

Re: Nanimonai, der Rohe Diamant (DitR), TT HCNP (Mongoose)

So, basically this: 917 : Orcish Frat Boy Spy ? The Spy works, but the Hippy Camp is only about 10% combat rate when you're in one of the Hippy outfits. Mostly, you get non-combats that give stats that may not be necessary in a speed run. You're much more likely to only need 1 turn to find a frat b...

I guess we don't know the drop rates yet, but there's a couple stench resist items on A-Boo Peak. -The Battle Knight Ghost drops Whoompa Fur Pants with +2 stench resist -The Claybender Sorcerer Ghost drops Polysniff Perfume for 10 turns of +2 stench resist If you get both, you're set. Grats on the turncount. Cutting turns in spite of the new quest rolling out is great. [659-663] Oasis in the Desert [18,11,13] +> [663] Got stone rose -> Turn [662] Fancypants Scarecrow 1 turn for the rose [664-666] Desert (Ultrahydrated) [22,9,12] Got Gnasir two turns in a row. Rough luck about the ravamp rolling out in the middle of your run. You do end up needing the hippy outfit, right? So you can start the war. Either YR it (prior to level 9), or after level 9 there are special non-combat adventures in the hippy camp that drop outfit pieces, and you can typically get i...

Nice run! I think you may want to look into brute force killing tower monsters. I'd never actually done it until a Zombieslayer run, but now that I know how it works, I'm so glad I can look at my telescope turn 1 and not fear the RNG. http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/Tower_killing You d...

Re: Level 9 Quest Revamp Knowledge

It feels a little awkward that having A-Boo Clue in your inventory forces the noncombat when you adventure at the peak. It'd be less fiddly if it worked like the hedge trimmers. I'm not in a position to test it, but I'd be curious to see if the clover adventure or Boo Clue adventure has priority. I'...

Nice, thanks for sharing. I think I'm going to go for a low turncount 4 dayer to get back on the board before my next 3 day attempt, but it's good to know I'm not missing anything obvious.

Congrats! On a side note, I can't help but wonder: even with the gnome 25+10 lbs gnome + scavenge + kg eyedrops and banish, is the ratchet hunting feasible in HCZ? Nope, I can't see a way to do it. With a base combat rate of 70%, you'll get 55% non-combats in the middle chamber in most HCZ runs. Aft...

Keep in mind that you have access to the cobbs knob dispensary since you got the KGE outfit to kill the king. Eyedrops + pet buffing spray is on the order of another 25% item drop.

Given how ore is clumped while mining, I would say you should always clover for all 3 or none. If you have to farm the outfit and mine for at least one ore, the others will be close at hand, so you'd get much less benefit from clovering at that point. Having said that, I think clovering for ore is a...

I hopped over to HCZombie to try to reduce the real life time the 3 day SCZombie runs were taking, and was surprised to make 4 days. This is a really minor point, but unless I'm misreading the log, it looks like you had the Hound Dog out while looking for Mr. Alarm. Mr. Alarm is one of the few superlikelies that is affected by combat modifiers. At that point in my runs, every knob goblin I find drives me up a wall.

Would you believe I've never killed a tower monster (without the intended combat item)? I haven't done a serious NP run since getting into the speed game.
I don't remember if it was possible in Boris, but there weren't any tower monsters to kill in the path where I was most serious about speed.

The bear arms should make a big difference. It's already plain to see they can be used for bar leveling in SC to skip gallery and speed things up. I'm really curious about the math behind this. I was trying to work it out, since after lots of Boris and spending most of the Bugbear Invasion as a TT,...
