The New Palindome

Post by bitchalot » Fri Feb 28, 2014 3:55 pm

So, this is how it works as best I can tell.

1. In the palindome, there are no longer any noncombats available while you are searching for the same 3 superlikelys as before. In addition to those, instead of just a ketchup hound, you obtain a disposable camera from the same noncombat in the bedroom that has spookyravens spectacles(there's a new fourth choice). You use that on bob and a photograph of a dog drops. Unknow if it's just BoB racecar, or also racecar bob. probably both. Phil reports getting the photograph as a drop from Bob, I personally killed 5 bobs and never saw the photograph, running 310% items
2. Instead of obtaining these items and then finding the shelves as a noncombat, you find I Love me Vol. 1 as a drop, which appears to be from from the 5th dude type monster you fight in the zone
Using that unlocks Dr. Awkward's office, to the right of the palindome, which you can visit at any time and place the photographs. THis takes no turns, and gives you beaten up as per usual and I Love Me Vol. 2.
3. Using Vol. 2 unlocks Mr. Alarm's office, to the left of the palindome. Once you've talked to him, you have two options to find the wetstunt nut stew. You can still do whitey's as per usual, or you can go adventure In the palindome again. Apparears to drop from non-dude type monsters, perhaps the 8th or 9th one? Unknown if +item affects it, but seems unlikely. During this, you can find all the old noncombats. Then you get the mega gem and fight Dr. awkward in his office.

Took me 16 mob fights to get I Love Me Vol. 1 after I had the other four photographs, and 16 more to get the wet stunt nut stew. Plus some dumb noncombats while chasing the stew - looks like Whitey's Knob is a lot less risky.

smithymat: Just got I love me from Racecar Bob. Someone was asking before, I can't remember who.

smithymat got love also from bob. so maybe the theory of dudes only dropping it is correct?

It appears to be the 5th dude you defeat (face?). Not sure how confident we are in that statement.

I fought a Hipster dude during my Palindome today, to see if he'd count towards the 5 number. It seems that he didn't count towards the 5 needed (the book dropped from the 5th Palindome-specific dude).

quite confident at this point. I think it's something like 12/12 on people who have checked their logs.

Just for another datapoint, here was my latest Palindome:
  • 1. Noncombat = photograph of an ostrich egg
    2. Combat = Racecar Bob
    3. Combat = Racecar Bob
    4. Combat = Taco Cat (free runaway used)
    5. Combat = Evil Olive (free runaway used)
    6. Combat = Flock of Stab-bats
    7. Noncombat = photograph of god
    8. Combat = Drab Bard
    9. Combat = Tan Gnat
    10. Combat = Bob Racecar (obtained photograph of dog via camera from this one, forgot on the earlier two)
    11. Combat = Racecar Bob (I Love Me drop)
    12. Noncombat = photograph of a red nugget
Fifth dude, as expected.

After visiting Mr. Alarm, it took 14 combats to find the wet stew. It finally "dropped' from an evil olive, 19 turns / 14 combats after I visited Alarm.

After each combat there's a message about looking at the boobtraps. I did eventually get the same boobytrap twice.

Could it be as simple as the stew dropping from the 5th Evil olive / Taco cat? They're the two food-based monsters in the zone, after all.

That matches what Mai and I observed... but not what lost saw.

On the other hand, you get the booby-trap messages no matter what mob you fight, so that leads me to suspect it has nothing to do with which particular monsters you're after.
