Hey guys, I'm a returning player (took about a three year break) who was fairly speedy before I left (best run was a 4 day, 828 day HCNP run way back in August 2011) and is looking to get speedy again. I started out shooting for a seven day run, but one big pre run mistake (not changing my induction oven out for the thing that gives winter garden stuff) and the place I ended up at day three makes me think that goal is no longer realistic. A lot has changed since I was last ascending, so any and every comment is appreciated, don't assume I know anything.

Iotmwise I have a grill, a goth kid and a reanimator, as well as access to the clan hot dog stand and the speakeasy. I also have a slimeling, hound dog and cubeling.

I'm not sure this semi-rare is actually the way to go in SNS, because of the adventure you have to spend baking a cake, the 1000 meat you have to spend on an oven and the fact that I never remember to actually use the dispensary buffs. Might be better to hit up the limerick dungeon instead?

That skill-checker link doesn't work. With the Sauceror skills Curse of Marinara and Itchy Curse Finger, towerkilling is hugely easier (you basically just fire Marinara on T1 and block, with ideally some slime stacks in the mix and Frigidalmatian to do some passive damage while you wait); if you want to towerkill more, which I presume you do, I'd recommend picking those up.

Any reason not to eat the noncombat hot dog and drink thermoses of whiskey on day 1? I'm not convinced by the merits of eating the astral hot dogs so early over hitting the speakeasy, but I think that's pretty marginal.

Frigidalmatian is high on my list to get permed soon, probably after this ascension. As far as the whiskey goes, it was largely due to meat issues I was having, trying to stay healed up and keep enough mp for combats, but yeah, I'd probably be better off using whiskey for stats and saving the hot dogs for level nine.

I have no idea how to approach the hidden city even half optimally. My plan is to YR a janitor for the matchbook and then banish/olfact monsters in a semi-intelligent manner. Is there a link to a discussion on the strategy of the Hidden City? Anyone have any tips? It seems like I should be doing at least some turns in the park, and the machete will make up for them when I clear shrines.

Plan for Day 6 was to get the LFM winked at right away, and then bounce around working on finishing up the level 11 and the Orc Chasm quests. This was an interesting day to play, trying to make the best use of daily buffs and doing the right banish/olfact/zone order for the hidden city, but I still don't think I'm doing that part of the quest anywhere near optimally.

If I hadn't had to use my clovers on the bridge I would've just clovered this twice for boo clues and moved on, but it still didn't take to many turns to get this done. Used the devil dog for the resistance, in retrospect I could've waited on the top of the peak until I ate that hot dog and used a familiar there, but that's a fairly marginal mistake I think.

That's day 6 down. Things I still need to get done:
Desert to open the pyramid. I have the Killing jar and black paint, so I'll shore for a compass and use the goth kid for extra exploration.

Pyramid. I'll run max noncombat here for wheels and the noncombats. I need to olfact the mob that drops canopic jars for the organs, but the tomb rats are the last thing I should need to olfact, so I can burn my last SGEEA between the two.

Hit the greater than sign to find the Oracle while my noncombat buffs are on.

Finish up the battlefield. I somehow missed my last semi rare, so I won't have cyclops eyedrops, but my next SR is in 44 turns, so I can grab the + meat drop SR before I do the nuns. I'll use handsome devils on the first two orchard drops and YR the guard chamber, so hopefully missing that SR won't cost me to much.

I doubt very seriously I'll be able to get all that done in 129 turns, but I'm still looking at a turn count in the low 700s I think, so I'm pretty pleased. I'd love to hear ideas on how I can cut turns if anyone has any.
