Nice read, though the grr was more cos the football thread was already taken ;)

Still, I'm happy to be middle class, from Northern England and supporting one of Englands oldest teams (Blackburn Rovers Football Club) Image

Anyone know about being able to watch these games in the states? I've been wanting to actually watch soccer, but the MLS hardly counts and I have no idea of the good leagues are televised anywhere/anytime I could actually watch.

The Fox Soccer Channel has games from many of the major leagues (including British Premiere League). I have no idea how many, how recent, etc. as I don't get the channel unless I drive home.

Fox Soccer channel shows some of the games, but is very unreliable if you want to follow a specific team. I use the streams linked from myp2p.eu for all my West Ham needs.

Is that a channel that I'm likely to have? Alternatively, do those streams not suck? (ESPN3's streams were pretty unreliable for watching, but that might have been a problem with shitty work internet.)

Yeah that soccer channel $79/god-only-knows.

It was part of the cable package my parents got (I assume the standard digital cable package there, but I could check) because I know they would not specifically ask for that channel. It may be part of a sports package (for speed and/or VS that they do watch), though.

FSC is part of the standard package on FiOS and it was standard on Time Warner when I last used them. As for myp2p, there's usually anywhere from 5 to 15 streams for any given game depending on the popularity of the game/teams. You can view stream information (ratings, bandwidth, etc.) before you load any of them. You can also choose from any number of streaming methods (media player, TVAnts, TVU player, SOP Cast, StreamTorrent, etc.) I can usually find one that's good enough to watch.

Also, if your streaming experience was bad during the world cup, it was probably caused by a ridiculous amount of people trying to watch the same stream. If you're trying to watch, say Wigan v Wolves, you won't have as much competition for bandwidth.

I watch 90% of EPL games using myp2p.eu.
