Softcore Seal Clubber 2/488 Heavy Rains

First of all, I'd like to thank Lightwolf for his deterministic SC SC HR log. It helped with many tactics that I've been applying to my runs.

My main strategy is to scattershoot through areas in order to respect the wandering monsters windows and get 2 catfish whiskers and 1 gourmet gourami in Day 1. I still need 2 whiskers for Day 2, but I don't need to pay much attention since they usually come naturally. Day 2 has many indoor areas that have a natural water level of 4.

Starting HR skills:

aquaconda brain: Rain Man, Make it Rain, Rain Delay
thunder thigh: Thunder Clap, Thundercloud, Thunderheart
lightning milk: Lightning Strike, Ball Lightning, Riding the Lightning

I don't need to get any new skills during the run. It would require me to keep casting Thundercloud and Rainy Day. The extra ML is nice, but it's not worth it to take the risk of having my dropped items washed away. I don't take Rainy Day because I may cast it by accident instead of Rain Man. I seldom use Make it Rain during nuns. It depends on having enough rain to do so.

Rain Delay, Thunderheart and Riding the Lightning are just quality of life. Lightning and Rain are too valuable not to be spent with Rain Man, YR and free insta-kills.

Regarding permed skills, I'm very far from having all of them, but I don't think there are many that would help me cut turns

Astral stuff:
astral belt
energy drinks

Standard buffs: Leash, Empathy, Astral Shell, Pride, Drescher

IOTMs:
Rain-Doh
Pantsgiving
Sneaky Pete jacket
Buddy Bjorn
Smith's Tome
Folder Holder
Reanimator
Grill
Unconscious Collective (spleen)
Grimstone Golem
DNA Lab
Spring Break Beach charter
Thor's Pliers
Rain-Doh is obligatory if you want to have a decent 2-day run. Rain Man + copies is OP as hell.

Notable IOTMs that I don't have and would probably help cutting turns:
Order of Green Thumb
Artistic Goth Kid
Boris' Helm
GameInform Dungeon
Day 1 Pulls:
1. Can of Rain-Doh
2. Pantsgiving
3. Sneaky Pete leather jacket
4. Buddy Bjorn
5. Hand in Glove
6. Folder Holder (25 ML, +5% NC, +MP regen, DA)
7. Corpsedriver (Night cap)
8. ring of conflict
9. hi mein
10. hi mein
11. hi mein
12. Milk of magnesium
13. Ship Trip
14. Ship Trip
15. Ship Trip
16. Ice Island Long Tea
17. chef-in-the-box
18. Third pirate set piece
19. Day 2 pull / emergency
20. Day 2 pull / emergency
The Ice Island Long Tea is something I came up with to have something decent to drink on Day 1 since I don't have a small Medium and I prefer to drink the Speakeasy stat drinks rather than the awesome 2-drunkness ones. I drink it together with a Lucky Lindy on turn zero. I feel that I don't need turngen anymore, so I'll probably change it for something that can effectively curt turns and just drink overpriced beers in the future. I could pull the epic Muscle wine from Spring Beach Break, but that's too expensive for me at the moment. Maybe in a future run.
I take a chef-in-the-box to cut around 5 turns with cooking shenanigans. Far from optimal, probably.
The rest of the items are straight-forward.

Day 2 Pulls:
1. star hat
2. star sword
3. Jarlsberg key lime pie
4. Sneaky Pete key lime pie
5. Boris key lime pie
6. mojo filter
7. drum machine
8. smut orc keepsake box
9. antique machete
10. jar of psychoses (Crackpot)
11. wet stew
12. black galoshes
13. large box
14. Tower / emergency?
15. Tower / emergency?
16. Tower / emergency?
17. Tower / emergency?
18. Tower / emergency?
19. Tower / emergency?
20. Tower / emergency?
I need to pull the Crackpot jar because I don't have a Jung Man.

Diet:
Day 1:
- 3 hi mein (15 fullness)
- 1 optimal dog (1 fullness)
- 1 Pantsgiving snack (+mus?) (1 fullness)
Total: 17

- 1 Ice Island Long Tea (4 drunkness)
- 1 Lucky Lindy (1 drunkness)
- 3 Vulgar Pitchers (6 drunkness)
- 2 glass of "milk" (2 drunkness)
- 1 overpriced beer (1 drunkness)
Total: 14
- 1 corpsedriver (nightcap)

- 1 Spleen familiar item (4 spleen)
- 1 astral energy drink (8 spleen)
- 3 wads (3 spleen)
Total: 15

Day 2:
- 3 key lime pie (12 fullness)
- 1 Charming Flan (2 fullness)
- 1 Fortune cookie (1 fullness)
- 3 Pantsgiving snacks (+mus?) (2 fullness)
Total: 17

- 1 Hot Socks (3 drunkness)
Total: 3

- 1 astral energy drink (8 spleen)
- 1 mojo filter (-1 spleen)
- 1 astral energy drink (8 spleen)
Total: 15
The Hot Socks is used for the amazing middle chamber, nuns, orchard, Twin Peak chain. I never need to consume other drinks on Day 2. Also, I'm working towards the Siphoned Spirits trophy, so I've been drinking them in aftercore.

I go to the Pirate Cove to get my first catfish whisker. Boost -combat% to maybe get a pirate outfit piece.
I forgot to start the guild quest and made myself spedn 3 more turns in the Outskirts. Probably not worth it. I only got the wind-up clock for the Alcove.

This is where the scattershooting begins. I finish the cranny (took a while to get the non-combat unfortunately) and start the niche while waiting for my first semi-rare. I forgot to finish the Niche, though. Another stupid mistake, since I had to ban liches again later.

The castle is simple. I boost ML for the rats, and amazingly got 5. I rarely get more than two. Praise thee, RNG.
After this, I'd usually drink my nightcap, but I had enough lightning for two lightning strikes (I wanted to use them in bunch of rats, but ALL combats turned out to be kings), so I decided to start the Black Forest.

Turn rundown finished!
My handful of mistakes probably caused extra 10 to 15 turns. The longer I keep doing this run, the more I understand how people are able to get the amazing leaderboard times.

Any advices or comments are most welcome.

Notable IOTMs that I don't have and would probably help cutting turns:
Order of Green Thumb
It's slightly helpful, but not worth more than a few turns.
Artistic Goth Kid
Yes, this one is a pretty big deal.
Boris' Helm
Only if you need to powerlevel. Seeing how your run went, I don't think it would help too much.
GameInform Dungeon
This doesn't seem helpful at all, since there isn't much you need an SGEEA early on for.
Don't forget that the hi meins can also be dropped if you're overgenerating by a lot, which seems to be the case with all of the unused day 2 liver. They're nice turngen for not-super serious runs, though.
Five lightning strikes in the Outskirts to burn delay().
Just so you know, using lightning strike on delay() turns isn't any more (or less) effective than using it on other things. It's just -1 turncount unless you're using it to preserve a buff (like Ultrahydrated), which makes it worth a little bit more.
As soon as I have the 3 necessary items for the giants, I change to my +stats gear.
If you have an amulet of extreme plot significance, the titanium assault umbrella doesn't help at all.
The castle is simple. I boost ML for the rats, and amazingly got 5. I rarely get more than two. Praise thee, RNG.
It looks like you didn't run -combat and 20 of all elements there (there's a speakeasy drink that makes 20 in all elements easy). Even if you get "too many" noncombats to skip doing that, you can always stick around if getting more tangles is worthwhile.
After this, I'd usually drink my nightcap, but I had enough lightning for two lightning strikes (I wanted to use them in bunch of rats, but ALL combats turned out to be kings), so I decided to start the Black Forest.
On day 1 I just use lightning strike as soon as I have lightning for it, since it doesn't really matter where I use it.
I wasn't lucky with the page drops, had to get extra ultrahydrated turns anyway.
And that is why I never get a dowsing rod. At best it probably saved you a killing jar pull.
so I didn't need to Rain Man for a meat vortex.
Getting the skills to tower kill would save you several pulls.

I think I'll try to change the energy drinks for hot dogs eventually. Gotta make some math.

Yup. I like using them on the nuns to preserve the Inhaler effect, too.

I need one or the other. It is a 50/50 chance depending on which non-combat comes first, isn't it?

I usually run +combat while doing the rats. What is the +20 prismatic for? Killing them easier?

Yeah, I'm aware that's something I should probably learn how to do.

Thank you :3

Some of the noncombats can lead to other noncombats there. Any noncombat can get you to the one that lets you finish with an amulet, while only 1 out of 3 can let you finish with the umbrella.

Every noncombat there (except for the quest-required ones) can be skipped if you have +20 damage in the right element. All elements are possible except sleaze. If you could magically have +100% NC and +20 damage for all elements, the tavern would take 2 turns for the quest noncombats and everything else could be skipped. You can't get all noncombats, so you also run +ML to get tangles from the combats you can't avoid.
