Poisonous Spike SC HR for HC4life players 3(could be 2)/618

That is a log, a not really serious one (i did the days pretty quick, and i banked a lot of turns at day 2, so could have been a 2 dayer if i had RL time). The special thing of the Log is: I only have HC iotms. No Softcore ones, so i figured "hey, instead of keeping it for me, i should post this Log so HC players have an idea of how SC will be without all the SC iotms". Feel free to ask any questions comments.

Edit: Actually, i used a Folder Holder(+2 myst, +NC, +5 weight), but nothing else.

That was a Powerlevel to 11. I could have used Spring Break but, someone help me, i thought the manor NCs would be better(i pulled a mirror and they gave 126 myst each).
 Also used a clover there, just for testing, and it gave 250, so that was 1 turn saved for the cost of a clover?

I have a few comments, but first a request.

Could you compile your pull list in a way that makes it easy to see what you pulled? Obviously you pulled the Folder Holder, but I'm not sure what else you pulled. Additionally, it would be nice to see what skills you bring to the table, and any other IotM you have (i.e. a BCC profile)

A quick comment is that if you are trying to pick up a skill, you can open the shore and then shore on turn 8. This forces your next combat to be a wandering rain monster, and you can then use the Sewers to force a Thunder skill without having to use the Thunder or the Rain skills. That would probably be better than the 1 turn you wasted in the Dire Warren, although it certainly isn't game breaking.

You probably shouldn't be powerleveling at all. I don't know if you have a Grill, but they give stats based on the water depth, so they scale really well. If you look at this http://koldb.com/searchresults.php?type ... =1557284#1 you see that most of the top runs use the grill.

I do have some other comments, but I'd like to see what you pull first.

All in all, an excellent run! You could probably leaderboard if you had a bit more RL time and fixed up a few leaking turns, it sounds like.

My pulls list is in the additional info, like lostapocalypse said. The trinkets pulled are weird, that was me trying to automate the last minutes of day 2 with Kolproxy.

I spent like 5 turns at dire warren, and the monster wasn't showing up even after the counter, for some reason, so i spent another at dire warren and he showed up.
So, yeah, i will do the Shore thing now, thanks. Does it work in daily dungeon too?

(Edit: Thanks). I have Grill, but i'm deciding wether i should grow him or not. They also use DNA lab, so i don't believe you or other people when they say "powerleveling isn't necessary". So i repeat the question: Sonofa Beach or Haunted Bathroom?

As of leaderboard, you're right, i can totally beat Lightwolf's 529, but not ungawa's 399. Do i get 2 comendatons if i beat HC and SC? I don't want to mess up with Lightwolf if i don't need to. :P

From what I've experienced, if you have a Grill (or any other Sombrero really) and constant 150+ ML (you can use your Folder Holder, Ur-Kel, Pride, Drescher, astral belt and Hand in Glove to easily achieve that in HR), there's no need to power level. Whenever you feel more confortable with all the HR shenanigans, try doing so!

Other than the Shore, you can also use the 4 turns in the Icy Peak and the 10 in the Lower Chambers (3 to explode and 7 to fight Ed) to force a rain monster. I don't know if there are other places

+25 ML nets you more stats than the +2 mys folder, so maybe try switching that one. The +20% item drop from the astral mask is nice, but avoiding powerleveling seems to be a higher priority.

I'm playing HR as a Seal Clubber. With the smithness weapon, I have high HP and just lunging thrust smack my way through monsters. The grill provides sustentability MP.

As a Sauceror, I assume one would run high initiative and Weaksauce + Saucegeyser all combats. I don't know much about playing as Mys classes, so it'd be nice to maybe ask more experienced people in chat

Anyway here are some other things I noticed about your run that you could possibly improve, so consider them:
Run More ML (either from depth or from skills) so you don't need to powerlevel.
Save the tavern until level 11 for more ML (+10 ML instead of level 6)
Fax Frat Spy and force drops instead of farming hippy hippy and YR frat war to save a turn and a YR
Pulling a shore scrip saves 3 turns every time, if you're hurting for pulls.

I'm sure I'll think of more things, but those are some points to chew on

again, great run! (I think I may try a softcore HR run, just to see what its like)

I will save tavern only if i don't need to powerlevel to 6. Skipping first floor of manor take out a lot of early stats.
As for Spy, i never understood why people said to fax him, but now i got it. Great trick.

PS: I need to know why would be Spring Beach better to powerlevel than Bathroom.

The single biggest thing you can do to speed up your run is learning to handle more +ML so you can avoid powerleveling completely. You have roughly 20 unnecessary turns in the bathroom for powerleveling, you did the tavern earlier because you were low on stats, and ideally you would be able to skip the first floor of the manor. Hide of the walrus, astral shell, ghostly shell, and reptilian fortitude would help here. More DA and HP will help.
Pulled 1 stainless steel scarf
You have to wait a while to equip this, you would likely be better off with a CARNIVORE button if you really need to pull a +ML accessory. Or replace the +5 weight in your folder holder with +25 ML and drop that pull completely.
Pulled 1 Pick-O-Matic lockpicks
Pulled 1 eleven-foot pole
Pulled 1 ring of Detect Boring Doors
Use a gelatinous cubeling for these instead.

The scarf was for the 100ML tests, CARNIVORE weren't enough. They won't be needed once i folder holder +ML. As for the 3 cubelling items, i don't pull them in a serious run.

My only problem is, in an hipothetical world where i do need to powerlevel for a single turn, i don't know the best place to do it.

The grill is pretty dope for stats. I also like buffing up with all those little mainstat buff you accumulate whenever I am using my goth kid free fights. Nanorhino goo fights are nice, as are speakeasy mainstat drinks. Mainstat drawers in te bedroom are nice to come across if you banish the non-ornate non-mainstat ones. As a seal clubber you can fight the infernal seals for some free stats and if you pull a claw of the infernal seal it's an extra 5 fights a day which is worth a few turns of powerlevelling. If you have an extra stone wool fighting a daily bar can be nice.

The scaling monsters in SBB are pretty good when buffed up. I dunno where the cutoff point for when it's better than the nerfed Spookyraven levelling but it's much less swingy.

Edit: my issue with the seal fights is I always forget I need the guild unlocked until I already have finished the knob unlock

That's why I have a script that automatically visits the guild to start the run, along with other things.

I generated a chart to help you with figuring how where to powerlevel.

In this chart, I assume that you're running +80 ML (Ur-kel at level 10, Annoying Noise, Pride of the Puffin, Hand in Glove at 30, and Radio) and have a 20 pound Sombrero to keep it simple.

Unless your buffed main stat is less than 50 (which it should never be), my math says that you should always powerlevel at the beach, even with the mirror.

The formulas I used for each zone are below, which assumed that the NC rate of the bathroom only affects the one NC, and you'll never get the Demon Name or the towel (which would make the bathroom worse).

SBB =  mainstat/8 + 80/6 + min(230, (20 * 0.005 + 0.1) * (mainstat + 80) / 4) 
Bathroom = 0.1 * 1.25 * MIN(1.2 * mainstat, 300) + 0.9 * 0.75 * (57/8 + 80/6 + min(230, (20 * 0.005 + 0.1) * (57 + 80) / 4))
