Felgod the ? skill Sauceror (BadMoon)

Post by thelonegoldfish » Sat Nov 06, 2010 3:52 am

Skills? who cares!

IotMs? Luxury!

Let's begin.

===Day 1===

I was thinking of being lazy and not doing this log, but I had a pretty good run today so I figured I'd make a go of it.

I do however reserve the right to ragequit this thing.

[0] Ascension Start [0,0,0]
-> Turn [0] none
[1-10] Haunted Pantry [1,5,2]
+> [6] Got razor-sharp can lid
[11-19] Outskirts of The Knob [0,4,1]
+> [17] Got chef's hat
+> [19] Got Knob Goblin encryption key

I started by opening the pantry and getting the encryption key.

[20-22] Sleazy Back Alley [1,1,0]
=> Level 2 (Turn 20)! (2/5/3)
[23] Haunted Pantry [0,0,0]
[24-27] Outskirts of The Knob [0,1,1]
%> [26] Badmoon: O Goblin, Where Art Thou?

Then I quickly got through the artist's quest (I figure I'll need the meat)

[28-30] Haunted Pantry [1,1,0]
%> [30] Badmoon: Pantry Raid!
[31-32] Guild Challenge [0,0,0]

Here I picked up the starting Mys buff to get past the guild challenge and buy some skills.

[33-37] Haunted Kitchen [3,8,4]

While high on that buff I went to the kitchen to grab some food (between this trip and the next I got 2 ancient frozen dinners which worked out well).

I also managed to get the runaway butcher's knife.

[38-41] Barrel Full of Barrels [0,0,0]
o> Ate 1 ancient frozen dinner (7 adventures gained) [0,8,0]
o> Drank 1 margarita (5 adventures gained) [8,0,0]
o> Drank 1 screwdriver (6 adventures gained) [9,0,0]
o> Drank 1 strawberry daiquiri (6 adventures gained) [0,0,8]

3 drinks and a 1 pt explosion. Not bad.

[42-50] Spooky Forest [4,47,9]
%> [49] Badmoon: This Doesn't Look Like Candy Mountain
+> [50] Got mosquito larva
-> Turn [50] Mosquito
=> Level 3 (Turn 45)! (5/9/5)

Once I opened the forrest I got today's bounty for triffids just in case... figured I could come back when out of quests to help unlock the temple later.

[51] Tavern Cellar (row 1, col 4) [0,0,0]
-> Turn [51] Smiling Rat
[52] Tavern Cellar (row 1, col 3) [0,0,0]
[53] Tavern Cellar (row 1, col 2) [2,2,3]
[54] Tavern Cellar (row 1, col 1) [2,5,0]
[55] Tavern Cellar (row 2, col 1) [2,5,1]
[56] Tavern Cellar (row 3, col 1) [0,0,0]
[57] Tavern Cellar (row 4, col 1) [0,0,0]
+> [57] Got Typical Tavern swill, Typical Tavern swill, Typical Tavern swill

A very quick tavern at 6 turns. Got my ring, volly-rat, and a bunch of whiskers from non-coms.

[58-62] Spooky Forest [6,14,5]
o> Drank 1 Typical Tavern swill (6 adventures gained) [1,2,2]
o> Ate 1 dire fudgesicle (4 adventures gained) [0,10,0]

Finished findind triffids for today rather quickly

[63-69] Haunted Kitchen [10,20,12]
%> [64] Badmoon: If You Smell Something Burning, It's My Heart
o> Ate 1 ancient frozen dinner (4 adventures gained) [0,10,0]
o> Ate 1 dire fudgesicle (2 adventures gained) [0,9,0]

back to the kitchen for food while I had buffs going.

Oh, yes... today was Dependence day which means I got to buy the +100% mys buff for 50 turns.

[70-72] Spooky Forest [6,10,4]
+> [72] Got filthy lucre
o> Ate 1 fortune cookie (1 adventures gained) [0,0,0]
=> Level 4 (Turn 70)! (7/13/7)

Guess I finished the triffids here actually, my mistake.

Leveled to 4.

[73-75] Degrassi Knoll [3,8,7]
+> [74] Got Gnollish toolbox
+> [75] Got Knoll mushroom
[76] Outskirts of The Knob [0,0,0]
#> [76] Semirare: Lunchboxing
o> Ate 1 Knob pasty (7 adventures gained) [5,6,6]
o> Drank 1 Typical Tavern swill (6 adventures gained) [1,2,2]
o> Drank 2 thermos full of Knob coffee (12 adventures gained) [11,10,11]
[77] Smith 1 REDACTED pepper + 1 big rock [0,0,0]
[78] Smith 1 heavy hot sauce + 1 saucepan [0,0,0]

Spent a couple turns in the knoll till I got my semi-rare, I'm tires short of the meatcar now, so I'll finish that up tomorrow. Especially since I banked the +item pixie buff.

Made my epic weapon to get a chef so I can make potions later. (seemed like a good idea at the time and I already have the hat for it).

I may instead just use the +mys buff and +item buff to farm smart skulls for the first 10 turns tomorrow then go back for the tires.

Oh, it seems I forgot the untinkerer, though he's not nearly as important with the recent meatcar changes.

Turn rundown finished!

At some point I purchased Pride. I intend to get Envy next when I get a spare 800 meat. I also picked up the first 3 sauce skills (attack, heal, +meat).

Not bad for a day 1!

Generally, if you can afford to, it's better to go for food and booze that doesn't take turns to get. Myst classes are sort of in a bind because their mainstat hell food tanks moxie, which is undesirable, but it's sometimes the way to go anyway. Spending six turns in the kitchen to get six fullness of 1.5 adv/full food isn't horrible, since you also get meat and stats, but it's equivalent to eating pretty poor food. (You got the minimum gains from the food, so it washed entirely.) Drinking is similar; as soon as you hit level three, you have unlimited access (bounded by your meat) to 2 adv/drunk booze. Four turns in the barrels to get 3 advcock bases is equivalent to 9 drunkenness worth of 1.39 adv/drunk booze. Obviously filling up entirely on Overpriced Imported Beer is extremely expensive, but it's worth significantly more adventures.

I'm not sure why you're placing value on Myst buffs; assuming that you're fighting with salsaball, they don't do anything for you, and if you're fighting with Stream of Sauce then they're worth just +1 damage for every 10 myst.

Making a chef is the right move. Combined with KLP construction, saucerors save a solid number of turns by making a chef.

Before you farm smart skulls and brains or whatever, you should make a fairy. The order to do things in is informed by the fact that you also still need both parts of the bugbear outfit, which drops at the knoll and the haiku dungeon, and that getting a frilly skirt would also be nice. Additionally, getting a chef ASAP isn't really very important.

Given Sauceror survivability, what's probably the best plan is to get both parts of the fairy from the haiku dungeon, hoping for a bugbear outfit from there, and also hoping for a spooky mushroom. (For an eventual Grue Egg Omelette.) The alternative is to just get the gravy from there, then go back to the knoll until you have the tires. (Or the tires and the 2k meat adventure.) If you still don't have the bugbear outfit, then you go back to the haiku dungeon to get the mushroom (and hopefully a spooky, too) and the bugbear outfit. If you do have the bugbear outfit, you can consider getting the fairy from the kitchens instead, but you might not have enough stuff to do that you want to do without a fairy before that happens. (And you have no chance of getting a spooky mushroom outside of zapping if you do it that way, although you could get spices.) You could also finish the fairy before going back to the knoll, to maximize your odds of frilly skirt. (That's what I would probably do.) It sort of depends on how leveling goes. (Getting a mushroom from the kitchens is somewhat faster on average than getting one from the Haiku dungeon, and it's better stats. Specifically, the expected number of turns to get a mushroom from the Kitchen with just Envy is about 10.2; the expected number of turns to get a mushroom from the Haiku dungeon is 16*, although you can also get a spooky there.) Of course, waiting until the kitchens may mean delaying doing some other stuff, or doing it without a fairy.

*Assuming 2 and 3 mushrooms are equally likely outcomes of the choice adventure, and that all mushrooms drop independently.

I agree with you, the mispeled Cemetrary might be your best bet with your styx buff. Not only are there smart skulls there, but a shovel to unlock the ruins, cranberries ( mix with rum or vodka for awesome myst drink), parts for skeleton keys to use for the DD...

One thing a lot of people over look about hella smart ( myst styx buff) is how it is 10-15 MP restore per turn. That is pretty nice early on in myst runs MP is at a premium ( MMJ is expensive, lucifers have a limit).

Don't forget about your meat BM adventures: Entryway 3k after unlocking boss bat lair, 2k after unlocking the beach in knoll, 4k in south of the border, 5k in whitey's grove after unlocking road to citadel.

NIce work day 1 GL knock Lespectre out of number 1 spot.

Here's my thinking behind getting a fairy with the Styx buff running over going for a skull:

There are a few things he's definitely going to want to get at some point:
- Fairy
- Bugbear Outfit
- Smart Skull/Shovel

If he gets the fairy first, he's still not totally wasting the styx moxie buff, since it's helping him get bugbear outfit parts. He can then have a fairy for the Cemetary, which is nearly as good. If he puts off getting a fairy, then he has to try to get bugbear outfit parts without any +item help. He's going to want to get a fairy eventually anyway, so it seems like it makes sense to do that -before- doing things where you'd use a fairy. Levels 4-6 are pretty dense with stuff where +item is useful.

From reading the log it sounded like he hadn't bought envy yet. Which will make more of a difference than a shot of hella smooth anyway.

There's 3 places he'll have a chance for the bugbear outfit. Haiku, fun house and grassi knoll ( which he's completed basically).

My thought process behind the cemetrary was also based on the fact that maybe he needed the + moxie to survive at area this early.

I really wasn't saying going for a fairy was a bad idea, I really also just saw the value in what he was saying about the cemetrarry.

One thing is for sure though don't bother with the knoll with hella smooth, tires are a guaranteed drop if you kill the juggler...

I think I'll run 10 turns in the cemetery, then proceed to the fairy. I can hopefully scrape together the meat for envy while I do this.

I'm not sure why you're placing value on Myst buffs; assuming that you're fighting with salsaball, they don't do anything for you, and if you're fighting with Stream of Sauce then they're worth just +1 damage for every 10 myst.

Mostly the value was because I think the init calculations are based on mainstat. I was probably also overestimating the minimum zone reqs for the kitchen.

One more thing, I really appreciate the advice since this is my 3rd log (the other two being over in hardcore) and I'm still not to the point of crunching numbers for everything. I still miss a few obvious things every so often, and I've also been playing long enough to have forgotten where fairies come from...

I'm kind of working from the HoD guide, and I'm a little ahead by their standards due to the recent changes to the early game.

Also, what's a KLP?

Init is based, kind of unintuitively, on your unbuffed mainstat. At least you're closer than I was; for most of my time playing the game, I thought it was based on your buffed moxie regardless of class.

3 turns in the cemetery for shovel, 4 turns in the haiku for gravy, this is going better than most of my HC runs :)

Day 2:

===Day 1===

[78] Smith 1 heavy hot sauce + 1 saucepan [0,0,0]
-> Turn [51] Smiling Rat

===Day 2===
Adventure count at day start: 68
Current meat: 483

Started today with 10 turns banked of the +mox/+item buff

[79-81] Pre-Cyrpt Cemetary [5,22,13]
+> [81] Got grave robbing shovel

3 turns in the cyrpt for a shovel

[82-91] Haiku Dungeon [14,39,20]

Followed up by getting the fairy gravy at [85].

Kept on going here trying to get the mushroom for the fairy, then I decided to bounce between here and the cyrpt since my hp was full.

[92] Pre-Cyrpt Cemetary [0,0,0]

Sadly not full enough. Beaten up.

[93-94] Haiku Dungeon [2,7,0]

Got a 2nd fairy ring, but it dropped only knoll mushrooms.

[95-96] Spooky Forest [3,4,1]

So I decided to go to the spooky forest for the mushroom drop there only to realize after that I needed knob mushooms.

[97-98] Guild Challenge [0,0,0]

Used the last of my Dependence Day buff to finish off the guild challenges

[99-108] Haiku Dungeon [22,36,18]
+> [108] Got pregnant mushroom

Back to the haiku... eventually got the mushroom, and the bugbear outfit happened along the way too.

[109-117] Degrassi Knoll [8,35,9]
+> [110] Got tires
+> [114] Got Gnollish toolbox
+> [116] Got Knoll mushroom
%> [117] Badmoon: Flowers For Tinky-Tonk

With my fairy in tow I went off to find some tires... err... and then... Oh yeah, I hung around for the meat BM adventure.

[118-120] Mysticality Vacation [0,11,0]
[121-127] Spooky Forest [11,28,13]
+> [125] Got Spooky Temple map

Spooky forest since with a mainstat of 3 it was the only place I could adventure and make progress.

[128-130] Guano Junction [5,15,6]
+> [128] Got sonar-in-a-biscuit
+> [129] Got sonar-in-a-biscuit
+> [130] Got sonar-in-a-biscuit
=> Level 5 (Turn 130)! (12/20/12)

Purchased Elemental Saucesphere and grabbed 3 sonars

[131-135] Bat Hole Entryway [6,23,7]
+> [134] Got Pine-Fresh air freshener
%> [135] Badmoon: Onna Stick

moar meet!

[136-147] Spooky Forest [23,86,13]
+> [141] Got Spooky-Gro fertilizer
o> Ate 1 Jumbo Dr. Lucifer (3 adventures gained) [0,0,0]
o> Ate 2 Knoll shroomkabob (7 adventures gained) [14,0,0]
o> Ate 1 fortune cookie (1 adventures gained) [0,0,0]
o> Ate 1 ghuol egg quiche (3 adventures gained) [0,0,0]
o> Ate 2 spooky shroomkabob (4 adventures gained) [0,0,21]

Wasting debufs. Opening temple. I had incorrectly thought that the torso awareness adventure was after you unlocked the temple in the forest rather than after you unlock the hidden city in the temple.

[148] Pre-Cyrpt Cemetary [0,0,0]
-> Turn [148] Baby Gravy Fairy
[149-154] Fernswarthy's Ruins [10,29,11]
%> [154] Badmoon: Mind the Fine Print

No brains :(

[155] Spooky Forest [0,0,0]
+> [155] Got spooky sapling
o> Drank 4 overpriced "imported" beer (8 adventures gained) [0,0,0]
[156-158] Daily Dungeon [0,0,0]
[159-160] Spooky Forest [5,5,2]
[161-167] Daily Dungeon [3,6,8]
+> [167] Got Sneaky Pete's key
o> Drank 10 overpriced "imported" beer (20 adventures gained) [0,0,0]
[168] Spooky Forest [2,3,1]
[169-178] Fun House [28,47,23]
+> [171] Got boxed wine
+> [172] Got box
+> [177] Got box, disease

Started the Fun House, but didn't get enough clownosity for the end fight...

[179-181] Mysticality Vacation [0,0,0]
+> [181] Got tropical orchid
[182] 8-Bit Realm [0,0,0]

Beaten up... and I had just used a vacation too... damn.

[183-192] Battlefield (No Uniform) [69,60,112]
o> Ate 1 antique packet of ketchup (1 adventures gained) [1,0,3]

Battlefield for powerleveling since it's a mys day and I couldn't think of anything else to do while beaten up. Or after.

After I used a bunch of turns I realized I could have tried for the south of the border meat adventure.

I'm making an amusement park ride called "south of the border meat adventure"...

[193] South of the Border [1,8,2]
+> [193] Got bottle of tequila

last turn. no luck on meat.

[194] Mix 1 bottle of tequila + 1 lemon [0,0,0]
o> Drank 1 margarita (5 adventures gained) [10,0,0]

Turn rundown finished!

Today was a lot less focused than yesterday, and I made a few mistakes and was hurting for meat a lot.

I at least got a couple of shore trips done, which I'd rather have out of the way early. I've still got a 4000 meat adventure to grab, so I shouldn't have much of a problem once that happens. I've 3 reagents banked already, all I need is to hope for a brain when I finish off farnsworthy's tower tomorrow. Also in retrospect I should have been going for burritos for food.

Goals for tomorrow:
* Finish Tower (can haz brain)
* Get Braaaaaains BM adventure then attempt boss bat lair
* South of the Border BM adventure for 4 dense.
* Open the library
* Figure out some way to do the friars (might have to just suck it up and buy the cold book)
* Set myself up for lime farming late day 3 or day 4.

Just read the wiki on the torso thing and I guess I was right the first time... go me.

[309] Knob Goblin Treasury [3,2,5]
[310] Haunted Billiards Room [0,0,0]
+> [310] Got pool cue

Wandered about for the end of the day... the -mox hippie debuff hurt a lot.

On a lark I figured I'd try for the pool cue superlikely or get beaten up and sleep it off. Luck won out.

[311] Mix 1 bottle of rum + 1 spices [0,0,0]
o> Drank 1 spiced rum (7 adventures gained) [0,0,25]

Turn rundown finished!

I'm realizing that booze this run is just going to suck... either I'm going to be putting out 1400-1900 meat/day or I'm going to be drinking crap. I'm starting to think that the "imported" beer won't be worth it once I get my food production going. I wonder if I should farm around the worlds... that might work, but it might not be worth the turns either. I don't know.

I've got a filthy pestle now for another +2 spell damage, though I'm red-lining stream of sauce already. I'm just happy that hippies are vulnerable to cold.

Tomorrow I'm going to:
* Make a chef
* Buff up and do the friars
* Actually open the library
* Do some crypt bashing
* Use Burrito's, smooth, and an odor extractor to get limes.

Around the World's are pretty worthless to farm when you've already got a hippy outfit. Maybe a hippy outfit + bounty + ATWs make them worth farming.

imported beer is tied with about the best booze per drunk you'll be able to find until level 11 quest, great wines from cellar, black and tans and Supernova Champagnes...

If you do the war as a hippy you'll get access to pear schnapps once you clear the filthworm side quest. Which is good booze and there's a couple other booze drop from the war you could possibly get.

Yeah, I know the imported stuff is probably the best I'll get till the war, It's just that since I'm though with most of my meat bonus BM adventures I'm worried about where I'll find the funds to keep up the addiction (and buy skills).

Booze is a major meat sink in BM, and it used to be worse (since you used to make schnapps, which are 140 meat/drunk). Once you get around to Olfacting limes, you might be able to coast through part of a day on Base Booze + Cherry drinks, or at least cut down to 70 meat/drunk using the oranges and grapefruits from the Fruit Golem to make schnapps; once you finish the level 9 quest, you're pretty good for meat. While the BM meat adventures are running out, the normal meat income stuff is starting to roll in. (Although you need 6k for the wand, which washes a lot of that out.) If you're not autoselling most of the random junk that drops, you should do that; it's much more important in BM than in other paths.

You don't mention purchasing Envy at any point; if that's not something that you just didn't mention, that's probably something you should do as soon as possible. (I assume you just forgot to mention it, since it doesn't show up in the log.)

I have the +item and +stats skills already.

I was considering getting the +DR skill but I haven't had a spare 1,600 meat lying around.

8 DR is a lot, but unless you're currently never getting initiative, the -initiative is likely to increase the damage you take as much as if not more than the 8 DR helps, especially as you get further and further along. Additionally, you're going to want Gluttony eventually, and buying extra hell skills will crank the price of that up. On my last Sauceror run, I actually bought Wrath (+damage/-DR) to make it easy to consistently trigger splashback effects, but I also had bad luck with +spelldamage drops. (I never got anything better than the shiny butcherknife.)

BM adventure meat might be done but the middle quests are worth a ton of meat.

level 7= 3K

I'll probably buff my mus and mox and beat the shit out of him come to think of it... Can probably line up all the bosses for one go actualy.

Tried to get some base booze to mix with cherries. (didn't really work sadly).

Then I drank the cherry drink I could make not as a nightcap. Stupid.

How odd that the cranberries took a turn to mix. I don't think they're fancy as I never purchased a fancy cocktailcrafting item. Perhaps I found a bug?

Turn rundown finished!

Goals:
*McLargehuge, get milk.
*Level
*Find some way to not be a potion junkie all the damn time.
*DoD for a wand and to grab the kobold bounty I've been sitting on.

I'm still a little ahead of the HoD guide, even though I though for sure I'd slipped behind (thanks for the early game revamps Jick et. al.). I just wish the harold's bell trick still worked, as I've once again burnt through a ton of meat.

You get 90 turns of potion buffs/day, which should be good to last you through most - but not all - of each day. You have to knock off one or two reagents for milk, but besides that, basically all of your reagents should be going into serum of sarcasm. (You could also do Philters of Phorce, but the effect is mostly the same except that you'll be taking significantly more damage, which is a meat drain.) You shouldn't need to run two potion effects at once, except perhaps for The Man, and there it should be serum+tomato juice unless you have more reagents than you know what to do with. (Possible, depending on if and when you've switched to a heavy spellslinging strategy.) To fill out the rest of the day, when you can't be potioned up, it helps to have reagents left over from early in the run. For that reason I would avoid eating Hell Broth; while eight fullness worth of hell broth is five additional adventures over eating pies, it costs 60 adventures worth of potion buffing.

While consumable SR are never a bad idea, you may want to consider starting to move into other ones. Specifically, you'll definitely want the Knob Goblin Elite one and you'll very likely want Pet Snacks. (I get a second pet snacks unless I have a Barrnacle by the time it's an issue, but that's a little paranoid and saves at most 23 turns and likely saves zero, making it worse in that case than getting no SR at all. Other people think that the second Snacks is not a great idea.) Getting one inhaler is also worth it, I believe, and if the timing isn't too heinous getting the ASCII art can be useful. Depending on your run speed and where in the window your SR fall, you probably have around 6 SR left. The KGE is just generally useful since it gets you access to a +item buff, so I would do that next. At 20 meat/adventure, you can't afford to run Eyedrops everywhere, but, especially post-dictionary, it's worth running them whenever you can.

Just some hints from my sauce bad moon experience, try to get saucecrafting asap and keep your reagents for level 10 and up, you can run sarcasm for all those levels. My big problem was the NS though, I bought all the big nuke skills and simply couldn't get her down fast enough. What was starting to look like a top 10 sauce bad moon run ended up taking 3 or 4 more days of powerleveling moxie in order to be able to kill the NS...

RE: Hell broth.

I only did that since I was pre-pie. In retrospect I should have eaten something else as the 30 turns of buff each weren't worth it.

Re: NS

NS is just going to suck since I'm a mys class. Nothing to do for it but hope I can find some decent gear and lots of healing items.

NS is basically a crapshoot as a myst class. You can stock up on war items, but that's no guarantee of anything. As a sauceror, even if you can afford your uncapped spell it can be hard to stack enough spell damage to make it reliable.

If there's nothing better to get towards the end of a run message oils semi rare makes sense but really a red pixel potion is basically the same thing. I mean you're going to try and use it before you have one hit till death right? Filthy poulices are close too. I mean sauceror's just can't get their HP high enough to need message oils. There have been runs where I didn't need a semi rare so I got them or shrinking powder for the extremely small chance I'd use them.

Macrame nets. I can't even imagine trying to kill her any other way as a sauceror, I think once I got lucky with shrinking powder on the second form but chloroform rags and nets are the best bet hands down.

Massage oils stun for a round when they work, preventing another incoming ~40 damage or so; this gives them a significant edge. Still, I agree that they're not so much more likely to swing it that I'd go for them specifically. (I might do that if I was, like, in the tower and my SR came up and I thought it'd be better than eyedrops.)

Tomorrow will be my 3 year anniversary of playing this game. Over 100 ascensions between just two of my accounts and I didn't know that message oil stunned. I guess I usually use them against the shadow and I'm pretty sure that is the one time that they wouldn't stun if they work.

Day 6-7...
Wherein I get really sick of BM_Sauce...

I noticed that I never got hit after using the oils... but I didn't "know" it.

Anyways, day 7.

===Day 6===

[614] Barrel Full of Barrels [7,4,2]
+> [614] Got bottle of whiskey

===Day 7===
Adventure count at day start: 140
Current meat: 3677

Goals for the day:
*finish whatever quests I could to grab meat
*level as much as I could

Problems:
90turns/day isn't really enough buff-time.

[615-618] Pirate Cove [29,23,30]
+> [617] Got bottle of rum, eyepatch

[656] Cap'm Caronch's Map [7,14,10]
[658] Frat House [3,5,6]

Stopped pirating here for some reason...

Pirates seem to be going fine, the biggest problem with them (and any other adventure) is I keep forgetting to refresh sarcasm.

[659-663] Haunted Library [32,30,15]
+> [662] Got inkwell
[664-673] Haunted Bathroom [139,356,36]

That was probably the fastest Orc Chasm I've ever had.

[752] Mix 1 bottle of whiskey + 1 cherry [0,0,0]
o> Drank 1 old-fashioned (8 adventures gained) [0,8,0]

Power leveled until I ran out of drugs... *ahem* I mean potions.

I had quite a few things to mix with cherries today it seemed, though I shouldn't be too strapped for meat post-dictionary.

Turn rundown finished!

I also managed to set up the GMoB while I was leveling, which is probably a good idea since doing the arena is going to suck as a mys without noodles, though I don't know what side to do just yet. I'm thinking hippie but I'm not sure yet.

Actually the beech doesn't sound too bad since I won't need buffs for it.

Goals for day 8:

* Level to 10
* Ship
* Giants
* Hole?... a starfish would be really nice actually.
* Backfarm some stuff I don't need buffs for (figure out what that is)
** Pixels
** Random south of the border items? (possibly if beaten up)

+> [764] Got tamarind-flavored chewing gum

Beaten up (fucking form not liking the characters)

[780] Knob Goblin Harem [2,5,3]

[781-787] Dungeons of Doom [25,89,35]

The wand won't drop! Why won't it drop?

It finally drops.

[791-808] Haunted Bathroom [107,769,88]
=> Level 10 (Turn 808)! (59/85/56)

Nothin' do to but powerlevel.

[809] Beanbat Chamber [2,4,3]

[883-893] Giant's Castle [102,191,92]
+> [886] Got thin black candle
+> [888] Got filthy lucre
+> [892] Got heavy D

Giants quest didn't take nearly as long as the last time seemed. Though it's BM so it probably took longer but I didn't care since I was actually not dying all that much.

[894-923] Haunted Bathroom [178,2013,171]
o> Ate 3 Jarlsberg's key lime pie (58 adventures gained) [0,88,0]

=> Level 11 (Turn 920)! (66/104/62)

Gettin' to 11. It seems I no longer need sauce-potions to survive power-leveling. This is good since the 90-adv per day limit was getting to be annoying.

The black forest on the other hand I can only do 1adv at a time before needing a HP recharge.

[925-928] Haunted Bathroom [26,152,19]

[945] Desert (Unhydrated) [0,0,0]
[946-953] Hidden Temple [200,50,50]

Burned turns in the desert/hidden temple since I didn't need buffs to survive them.

[954] Knob Goblin Kitchens [16,18,8]
#> [954] Semirare: Knob Goblin Elite Guard Captain
[955-963] Hidden Temple [50,150,50]
-> Turn [963] Smiling Rat
[964-965] Poop Deck [9,18,10]

Beaten up, ragequit. (so many days end that way)

Was out of buffs for a while now... eventually decided to give up on the desert and bank a few turns for tomorrow.

Turn rundown finished!

Sooo...

I guess tomorrow I want to get the war started and open the produce stand... then finish up the level 11 quest, grab an antique mirror for the GMoB and umm... I don't know. I hope I can zap my book back to cold too come to think of it.

I'm getting kind of burnt out on trying to play anywhere near optimally. I think I have an idea of what's left to do, as the late-game is kind of self directing.

Turn rundown finished!

Finished the war, Killed ed. I'm probably about 30-60 turns out from the end.

I think I still need a guitar and any missed tower items, Will finish tomorrow.

I was finally able to spell-sling opponents without buffing after purchasing the 3rd saucesphere and saucegeyser.

Day 12:
In which I kick ass.

I needed the guitar and a black pepper (which I was fortunate enough to get on my first basket).

I was very lazy towards the end and I went and picked up all the tower familiars but the goat (despite actually having the 2 needed familiars prior to this) so that I wouldn't need more than 1 pet snacks.

Eventually beat the NS with macreme nets and massage oils. Cheap but effective. Finally it's over.

Nice finish! That's a really great run for a first attempt at BM speed (and a great run in general.)

Yeah, the early game revamp helped a ton...

I'll probably give some other class a more serious attempt after I lay off logging for a few weeks. I couldn't afford the effort of trying to think through every click towards the end of the run and I got really frustrated, but such is bad moon.

Hopefully it's ok to necro an old thread and say, thanks for this.

I've read Salticid's bad moon guide and it made sense. It had cool observations. But your log here points out how to follow these & has some useful mistakes.

As someone who hasn't tried BM yet, sauceror/pm worry me a lot, and it's great to have this broken down. I can focus on where to go, when, here, and I can focus on combat skills and technique elsewhere.

I have a feeling it'll take a lot of reading before I can brave BM Myst but this is a big help to me.
