Mechald's BM SC run (11/1429) (comments welcome)

Post by Mechald » Sun Dec 04, 2011 9:57 pm

--Day 1--

I wasn't planning to ascend today. I figured I'd hang around for at least a few more days, farming lollipop sticks or whatever. Then I logged in and was all "whoa, triffid bounty." Then WM came into /clan and was all "whoa, triffid bounty!!" And here I am.

Code: Select all

   -- Eat double bacon beelzeburger x5 (+25 adv)
   -- Level 3
   -- Buy Pride
[65-58] The Spooky Forest
   -> Level 4 (Turn 59)
   -> Get mosquito larva (Turn 58)
Tried to get a volleyball here, but had bad luck with chewing gums; out of eight chewing gums, only one worthless item.

Code: Select all

[57-53] The Spooky Forest
   -> Familiar: mosquito (Turn 57)
   -> BM adventure: +1000 meat (Turn 53)
   -> Familiar: volleyball (Turn 53)
   -> Buy Envy (Turn 53)
[52-42] Haiku Dungeon
   -> Get fairy gravy boat (Turn 42)
[41] Typical Tavern Cellar
Tavern rats are tough. I want my epic weapon, which means I need the guild unlock now.

Code: Select all

[40-35] Outskirts of Cobb's Knob
   -> Get 11-inch knob sausage (Turn 35)
Saving the rest of the encryption key unlock, plus the spookyraven unlock, for my semi-rare window.

Code: Select all

[34-33] Smith Bjorn's hammer
[32-20] Typical Tavern Cellar
   -> Get Typical Tavern swill x3 (Turn 24)
   -> Styx Pixie buff: Hella Tough (Turn 22)
   -> Get Baron von Ratsworth's monocle (Turn 20)
It takes me three tries to defeat the Baron. The first two times, I use Clobber but can't deal damage fast enough. The third time, I say screw it and use regular attacks. Two lucky hits + Clobber wins the fight.

Code: Select all

[19-18] Haiku Dungeon
   -> Get bugbear beanie (Turn 18)
Burning off beaten up.

I'm running low on turns. My next priority is getting the meatcar so I can get the knoll +meat adventure for money for booze.

Code: Select all

[17-1] Degrassi Knoll
   -> Get frilly skirt (Turn 12)
Welp. Not a single tirejuggler. Currently at 117 meat. I shouldn't be drinking my swill nightcaps now, but there's not much else I can do.

Code: Select all

   -- Drink overpriced beer, typical tavern swill (+8 adv)
[8-4] Degrassi Knoll
   -> Get frilly skirt (Turn 6)
At this point, my semi-rare window begins.

Code: Select all

[3-1] Outskirts of Cobb's Knob
   -- Drink typical tavern swill (+5 adv)
[5-4] Outskirts of Cobb's Knob
   -> Get encryption key (Turn 4)
Then I realize that I forgot to pick up the Pretentious Artist's quest earlier, and if I had done so, I would've had more money for beer.

Code: Select all

[3-1] The Sleazy Back Alley
   -- Drink ice-cold willer (+1 adv)
[1] The Sleazy Back Alley
   -> Level 5
   -- Drink ice-cold willer (+1 adv)
[1] The Sleazy Back Alley
   -> Get pail of pretentious paint
   -- Drink overpriced beer x4, ice-cold willer (+9 adv)
[9] The Haunted Pantry
   -> Get 3 tasty tarts
[8-1] Degrassi Knoll
   -- Drink typical tavern swill (+6 adv)
Still no tirejugglers. 30 turns spent at the knoll. I am not pleased.

Status at end of day:
- Level 5
- Made epic weapon
- Got Ratsworth's monocle
- Need knob mushroom; got fairy gravy boat
- Need bugbear bunggard; got beanie
- Need tires; got all other meatcar parts

[19-7] Ruins of Fernswarthy's Tower
   -> Level 6 (Turn 10)
   -> Get disembodied brain (Turn 8)
   -> Get dusty old book (Turn 7)

Code: Select all

--Day 3--

Since I'm level 6, it is tempting to charge straight into the friars' quest in hopes of getting d3 liver. But I'm pretty sure that if I try that, I'll just get my face handed to me. I need better equips first. So here's my rough outline for the day.
1. LEW
2. KGE outfit
3. Daily Dungeon (preferably at 26+ buffed moxie)
4. Friars
5. Depends on how much time I have left. Liver seems unlikely. Lime hunting pt. 1 is more likely.

Code: Select all

[51-49] Muscle Vacation
[48-44] The "Fun" House
[43] Smith clownskin belt
[42-34] The "Fun" House
Get beaten up twice by Beezlebozo. First time, I'm at about half health going into the fight, which turns out not to be enough. So I heal up and head right back in, forgetting that I'm beaten up. I'm too used to this fight being completely trivial.

Code: Select all

[33-31] Outskirts of Cobb's Knob
   -> BM adventure: Minioned (+20 mus, -5 myst/mox) (Turn 32)
Burning off beaten up. Also hoping for Pretentious Artist item (nope) and chef's hat (nope).

Code: Select all

[30-24] The "Fun" House
   -> Familiar: volleyball (Turn 30)
   -> Get distilled seal blood (Turn 24)
This time I OHKO him. Woo. Two turns of Minioned left, so I'll spend them at the friars' before heading to the knob.

Code: Select all

[23-22] The Dark Neck of the Woods
[21] Smith Hammer of Smiting
[20-14] Cobb's Knob Barracks
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 20)
   -> Get Knob Goblin elite polearm (Turn 20)
   -> Get Knob Goblin elite pants (Turn 15)
[13-11] Muscle Vacation
   -> Get stick of dynamite
[10-8] Cobb's Knob Barracks
   -> Get Knob Goblin elite helmet (Turn 9)
   -> FARQUAR (Turn 8)
[7-6] Cobb's Knob Kitchens (KGE outfit)
[5] Sleazy Back Alley
   -> Get distilled fortified wine x3
[4] Cobb's Knob Kitchens (KGE outfit)
[3] Cobb's Knob Harem (KGE outfit)
   -- Drink 3 distilled fortified wine, 2 Cobb's Knob Wurstbrau (+19 adv)
[21-17] The Beanbat Chamber
   -- Eat enchanted bean burrito x4, knoll shroomkabob (+26 adv)
[40-34] Daily Dungeon
   -> Familiar: volleyball (Turn 40)
   -- Get Boris's key (Turn 34)
[33] Outskirts of Cobb's Knob
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy
   -> Get pretentious paintbrush
[32] The Haunted Pantry
I melt down most of the junk in my inventory to get 2000 meat for Thrust-Smack and wereseal blood. The plan is to defeat the Goblin King, then sell the dense meat stacks so I'm not completely destitute, then use the remaining 9 turns of wereseal blood to kick-start the friars' quest.

Then I realize that I haven't made the knob cake, which requires an oven, which requires meat that I don't have. Derp. Thankfully I haven't used the wereseal blood yet.

Code: Select all

[31] Knob Goblin Treasury (KGE outfit)
[30] The Boss Bat's Lair
   -> Familiar: leprechaun
   -- Buy Dramatic
[29] Cook Knob cake
[28] Cobb's Knob Throne Room
   -> Familiar: volleyball
   -> Get crown of the Goblin King
Friars time. 27 adventures, 9 drunk remaining. This is going to be close.

Code: Select all

[27-14] The Dark Neck of the Woods
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 27)
   -> Get dodecagram (Turn 14)
No ruby W. Guess I'll have to backfarm it later.

Code: Select all

[13-1] The Dark Heart of the Woods
   -> Familiar: volleyball (Turn 13)
   -- Drink overpriced beer x9 (+18 adv)
[18-16] The Dark Heart of the Woods
   -> Get box of birthday candles (Turn 16)
[15-2] The Dark Elbow of the Woods
   -> Get eldritch butterknife (Turn 2)
I'm precisely a day ahead of my TT kittycore from last month. I finished the friars' quest in that run on day 4 with one adventure remaining.

Code: Select all

[1] Cobb's Knob Laboratory
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy
   -- Drink whiskey sour (+6 adv)
   -- Get burrito blessing
   -- Styx Pixie buff: Hella Smooth
A few turns of these buffs will be wasted on finding the menagerie key, but oh well. Wish I hadn't screwed up on Beelzebozo.

Status at end of day:
- Level 6 (39 muscle)
- Friars' quest complete
- Got Boris' key
- Incomplete quest stuff: Boss Bat, Pretentious Artist (need pantry item), manor unlock
- Shoring status: Got stick of dynamite, need the other two items
- Need to get Onna Stick and SotB BM meat adventures
- Not going to bother making a chef this run, because I haven't got a hat

--Day 4--

Code: Select all

[51-50] Cobb's Knob Laboratory
   -> Get Cobb's Knob menagerie key (Turn 50)
[49-7] Menagerie Level 1
   -> Sniff fruit golem (Turn 46)
   -> Get burrito blessing (Turn 31)
   -> Styx Pixie buff: Hella Smooth (Turn 31)
   -> Get lime x11, cherry x10, orange x11, grapefruit x6
[6-4] Cook Boris's key lime pie x3
   -- Eat Boris's key lime pie x3 (+45 adv)
Due to inattention, I manage to get beaten up by the first fruit golem that comes along (after sniffing it). I can't exactly leave with all my buffs running, so I use some wereseal blood and power through.

After that, I'm down to 274 meat, so it's time for a quick detour to get some operating funds.

Code: Select all

[48-43] The Bat Hole Entryway
   -> Familiar: volleyball (Turn 48)
   -> BM adventure: Onna Stick (+3000 meat, 10 turns -20 mox) (Turn 43)
[42] Cobb's Knob Harem (KGE outfit)
[41-38] The Boss Bat's Lair
   -> Familiar: leprechaun (Turn 41)
[37] The Haunted Pantry
   -> Familiar: volleyball
   -> Get pretentious palette
I still have four turns of this effect to burn off. But I would really hate to screw around now and then miss liver by four turns. Let's just go.

Code: Select all

[36-33] Infernal Rackets Backstage
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 36)
   -> Get bus pass
[32-22] The Laugh Floor
   -> Get hilarious comedy prop (Turn 32)
   -> Get hellhound puppet (Turn 27)
   -> Get observational glasses (Turn 22)
   -> Get Azazel's lollipop (Turn 22)
   -> Get imp air x3
[21-12] Infernal Rackets Backstage
   -> Get Azazel's unicorn (Turn 17)
   -> Get bus pass x4
[11-4] The Laugh Floor
   -> Get imp air x2
   -- Drink steel margarita
   -- Eat knoll shroomkabob (+5 adv)
My semi-rare window begins in two turns. I try to eat a fortune cookie and discover that I'm too full. Right. Only 14 fullness. Shoot. I can go to the pantry and see if I get tasty tarts before the manor unlock; otherwise, looks like I'm banking.

Code: Select all

[8-7] Whitey's Grove
[6-1] The Haunted Pantry
   -> Familiar: volleyball (Turn 6)
   -- Drink orange schnapps x10, grapefruit schnapps x4 (+28 adv)
[28] The Haunted Pantry
   -> Manor unlock
   -- Drink tequila sunrise (+5 adv)
Status at end of day:
- Level 7 (49 muscle)
- 417 turns played, 32 banked
- Liver acquired
- Food supplies: 7 limes, 10 cherries (not counting lime for tower)
- Shoring status: Got stick of dynamite, need the other two items (still)
- Need to get SotB meat adventure (still)

--Day 5--

Mostly miscellaneous odds and ends planned for today.
- Road to the White Citadel
- Farm ruby W (might as well do this now when the stats are more meaningful)
- Unlock island
- Unlock Spookyraven upstairs/gallery
- Unlock Dungeons of Doom (be at 19 drunk before doing this)

If I reach level 8 and the trapzor is asking for chrome, that obviously takes priority over everything. Otherwise, it can wait.

Planning to save the 8-bit realm for flyering, along with the MacGuffin bosses, pyramid, and HitS.

Code: Select all

   -- Eat fortune cookie (+1 adv)
[78-76] Mysticality Vacation
   -> Get tropical orchid
[75-65] Whitey's Grove
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 75)
[64] Cobb's Knob Harem
   -> Get scented massage oil x3
[63] Whitey's Grove
   -> It's A Sign!
The old "go somewhere else for one adventure" trick, apparently.

Code: Select all

[62-19] The Road to the White Citadel
   -> Get filthy knitted dread sack (Turn 54)
   -> Get filthy knitted dread sack (Turn 38)
   -> Level 8 (Turn 24)
Thanks a lot, RNG. Maybe I should get the outfit from the island in future runs. Also, trapzor is asking for linoleum ore.

Code: Select all

[18-16] Moxie Vacation
   -> Get barbed-wire fence
[15-13] Muscle Vacation
   -> Get dinghy plans
[12-10] Pandamonium Slums
   -> Get ruby W (Turn 10)
[9-8] Whitey's Grove
   -> Get bird rib (Turn 9)
   -> BM adventure: +5000 meat
   -- Drink white lightning x3 (+20 adv)
[27-25] Cook Boris's key lime pie x3
   -- Eat Boris's key lime pie x3, fortune cookie (+46 adv)
[70-43] The Haunted Billiards Room
   -> Familiar: volleyball (Turn 70)
   -> Get pool cue (Turn 64)
   -> Get Spookyraven library key (Turn 43)
So here's my theory on why the RNG is acting like this. At the beginning of the run, when I didn't yet have a fairy, I decided to equip a stuffed fairy from the klaw in hopes of fooling the RNG into giving me better item drops. I think the RNG caught on to what I was doing and got all mad. Or something.

Code: Select all

[42-30] The Haunted Library
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 42)
   -> Get scroll of ancient forbidden unspeakable evil (Turn 38)
   -> Read Stephen and Elizabeth (Turn 32)
   -> Staircase (Turn 30)
89 buffed mainstat. Technically I could head to the bedroom now, if I wanted to get owned by nightstands, but I think it's better if I stick to the plan.

Code: Select all

   -- Drink overpriced beer x10 (+20 adv)
[49-33] The Enormous Greater-Than Sign
   -> Get plus sign (Turn 45)
   -> Get teleportitis (Turn 33)
[32] The Oracle Will See You Now
   -> Get large box x3, small box x2, ring of aggravate monster x2
[31] The Lollipop Forest
[30] The Haunted Billiards Room
[29] The Haunted Kitchen
[28-20] Itznotyerzitz Mine
   -> Get miner's helmet (Turn 27)
   -> Get 7-foot dwarven mattock (Turn 25)
   -> Get miner's pants (Turn 20)
The last turn of teleportitis brings me to the mine, which is cute, because it's where I wanted to go anyway.

Code: Select all

[19-11] Inside of Itznotyerzitz Mine
[10-1] The Goatlet
   -> Get burrito blessing (Turn 9)
   -> Get goat cheese x2
   -- Drink margarita (+5 adv)
   -- Styx Pixie buff: Hella Smooth
Status at end of day:
- Level 8 (60 muscle)
- 581 turns played
- Done: got rabbit's foot, got tower 6 items, unlocked Spookyraven upstairs, unlocked DoD (8 unique potions, 6 duplicates)
- Not done: conservatory, ballroom song, cyrpt, filthy corduroys
- Food supplies: 4 limes, 10 cherries

TT, SC, AT don't really need the Hippy outfit thanks to imported beer. I would skip the Road to the White Citadel completely. At level 9, NCs open in the hippy camp that will give you the outfit pieces. You usually have the song set by then, too, so it's by far the superior way.

PM needs fruit stand access immediately to eat (skipping limes, generally). DB wants fruit stand access early for ACs. S would like early fruit stand access for olives for serums of sarcasm.

The hippy bounty is usually not a bad one to take early as any class, as you can also look for Around the Worlds for nightcaps by spending a couple of turns first in the frat house, and then the cove.

Early bedroom is good! Yes, you will run away from nightstands (which is what you do in low-skill HC), but think of the things you want to do that want NC (mining outfit, cyrpt, pirate outfit, DoD opening). And you have all of those meat NCs which can be a godsend when drinking is a 1900 meat habit.

Leftover turns of tele should be prepared for. Shoring, DD, cooking, and mining are all things that can burn off tele.

Hm. I always assumed that the Road to the White Citadel was worth doing for the rabbit's foot + 5000 meat -- mainly because of the item drop bonus on the rabbit's foot -- but I don't actually know if that amount of +item is all that significant.

Vaguely related question: Is it worth it to get the fairy equip from the Arena?

Somehow this never occurred to me. I'll definitely do this in future.

Oh, I get It's a Sign! and the 5k meat. But I've stopped going for the rabbit's foot. Let's say it takes 12 turns on the road to the white citadel (3 superlikelies, finding the right mob after them, and then 2 more NCs). There is no way 7% item and 7% meat is saving you 12 turns, especially since that 7% is sometimes competing with the 5% from the observational glasses (on say, F'c'le).

I have gotten the fairy equip every run since the Arena revamp. It's +9-10% every fairy turn.

Ah. For some reason I thought you needed the rabbit's foot to trigger the 5K meat. If all you need is the sign, it makes life easier.

--Day 6--

Musings on food: I have enough limes for today (going to buy gluttony at the end of the day), and enough cherries for days 7 and 8. I am hoping to make this an 11-day run. That means I may not need a second session of lime farming. If I get to filthworms before eating on day 10, then I'll only have to scrounge up food for day 9, and I can hopefully get by with grue egg omelette + Gnasir drops + goat cheese pizza.

This may be overambitious. I'll see how things go. I am pretty much guaranteed a free lucre because of the gallery bounty. If I do end up lime farming again, I don't expect to need more than 10-15 turns.

Code: Select all

[50-40] The Goatlet
   -> Get goat cheese x3
[39-34] The Cake-Shaped Arena
   -> Get eye-pod (Turn 34)
   -- Get burrito blessing
   -- Styx Pixie buff: Hella Smooth
[33-30] The Goatlet
   -> Get goat cheese x2
I debated whether to use Hella Smooth here or save it for the F'c'le. I decided the F'c'le can wait until tomorrow, especially because waiting makes it easier for me to handle pet-buffing spray there.

Code: Select all

[29-26] The Defiled Nook
   -> Get evil eye x2
[25] Menagerie Level 2
[24-19] The Defiled Nook
   -> Get evil eye x2
[18] The Defiled Niche
   -> Familiar: volleyball
[17] Menagerie Level 2
   -> Get irradiated pet snacks
[16-5] The Defiled Niche
[4-2] Cook Boris's key lime pie x3
   -- Eat Boris's key lime pie x3 (+43 adv)
[44-40] The Defiled Niche
Bosses are set up in the nook and niche. I want the ballroom song for the other two sections.

Code: Select all

[39-29] The Haunted Bedroom
   -> Get Spookyraven ballroom key (Turn 29)
[28-24] The Haunted Ballroom
   -> Play noncombat song (Turn 24)
[23] The Defiled Nook
[22] The Defiled Niche
[21-8] The Defiled Cranny
   -> Level 9 (Turn 16)
[7-6] South of the Border
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 6)
   -> BM adventure: +4000 meat (Turn 5)
   -- Drink overpriced beer x19 (+38 adv)
[43-27] The Defiled Alcove
Bosses are set up in the cranny and alcove. Also, I finished off the nook/niche bosses because I had leftover wereseal blood from the ballroom.

Code: Select all

[26-22] The Hippy Camp
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 26)
   -> Get hippy bongo (Turn 23)
   -> Get filthy corduroys (Turn 22)
[21-12] The Obligatory Pirate's Cove
   -> Get swashbuckling pants (Turn 20)
   -> Get eyepatch (Turn 13)
   -> Get stuffed shoulder parrot (Turn 12)
[11] Cook Boris's key lime pie
[10-4] Barrrney's Barrr
   -> Familiar: volleyball (Turn 10)
I'm out of medicinal herbs (for the first time this ascension, surprisingly). I have few enough turns left that I'm just going to bank.

Code: Select all

   -- Buy Gluttony
   -- Eat Boris's key lime pie (+15 adv)
   -- Drink whiskey sour (+5 adv)
Status at end of day:
- Level 9 (73 muscle)
- Ballroom song set, cyrpt mostly done (nook/niche done, bosses set up in cranny/alcove), got 3 pirate insults
- Got scented massage oils, pet snacks
- Food supplies: 10 cherries, grue egg

Do you not get Flushed for the F'c;le? You should get flushed for the f'c'le. Flushed + 20lb fairy + eyedrops should be >233% item drop. Assuming your mus is high enough to handle flushed.

I forgot about Flushed. Guess I'm using it for the filthworms. Is 233% high enough to guarantee the drops so I wouldn't need Hella Smooth there, provided the right mobs showed up in time?

--Day 7--

Code: Select all

[68-65] Daily Dungeon
   -> Get fat loot token (Turn 65)
[64-63] Barrrney's Barrr
I don't remember to drink until getting a noncombat for which drinking would have been useful.

   -- Drink overpriced beer x10 (+20 adv)
[82-77] Barrrney's Barrr
[76-75] Cap'm Caronch's Map
   -> Familiar: leprechaun (Turn 75)
I get 7 insults before getting the map, which I don't think has happened to me before.

Code: Select all

[74] Barrrney's Barrr
[73] The Orcish Frat House
   -> Get Cap'm Caronch's dentures
[72-69] Barrrney's Barrr
F'c'le is open, except I only have 418 meat, not enough for eyedrops + pet-buffing spray. I head to the conservatory in hopes of getting some meat stacks to sell.

Code: Select all

[68-59] The Haunted Conservatory
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 68)
   -> Get meat stack x2
   -> Get Spookyraven gallery key (Turn 59)
[58-43] The F'c'le
   -> Styx Pixie buff: Hella Smooth (Turn 58)
   -> Get mizzenmast mop (Turn 56)
   -> Get ball polish (Turn 51)
   -> Get rigging shampoo (Turn 45)
   -> Get pirate fledges (Turn 43)
No barrrnacle, predictably. (In my last BM run, I spent like half the day at the F'c'le unable to get the rigging shampoo to drop, but I got four barrrnacles.) I'll come back for it later once I can wear the fledges. Also an extra turn because I forgot to use the ball polish.

[88-65] The Haunted Gallery

I find the correct gallery path on my second try, which occurs on turn 86. Very nice.

Code: Select all

[64] The Defiled Cranny
[63] The Defiled Alcove
[62] The Haert of the Cyrpt
[61-46] The Penultimate Fantasy Airship
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 61)
[45-24] The Valley of Rof L'm Fao

   -> Get plastic guitar (Turn 40)
   -> Get lowercase N (Turn 27)
   -> Familiar: volleyball (Turn 26)
   -> Get 64735 scroll (Turn 24)
I run my fairy longer than I strictly need to, because I decide that mitigating potential tower screw is more important than the stats the volley would give. Also I accidentally kill the first adding machine with my hot plate and have to hunt down another one (though thankfully I don't lose any scrolls).

So now I'm rolling in meat. Need to remember to save 15K for DFSS, which I expect to need for the NS.

Code: Select all

[23-14] The Penultimate Fantasy Airship
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 23)
   -> Get metallic A (Turn 17)
   -> Get S.O.C.K., giant castle map (Turn 14)
No titanium assault umbrella, no oil of parrrlay. Maybe I can get the latter when I go to backfarm my barrrnacle.

Code: Select all

[13-1] The Haunted Gallery
   -> Familiar: volleyball (Turn 13)
   -- Drink cream stout x2, orange schnapps x7 (+17 adv)
[17-8] The Haunted Gallery
   -> Get filthy lucre (Turn 9)
   -> Accept raver giant bounty (Turn 9)
   -- Drink whiskey sour (+6 adv)
Castle time. Calling it a day here because I want Styx Pixie buff for the castle.

Status at end of day:
- Level 10 (100 muscle)
- Castle unlocked, all lower quests done except trapzor, pirate fledges obtained
- Familiar status: have mosquito, lime; have goat cheese; don't have barrrnacle, potato
- Food supplies: 5 cherries, grue egg

   -> Turn wheel counterclockwise (Turn 15)
   -> Paste intragalactic rowboat (Turn 15)
   -- Eat cherry pie x4, fortune cookie (+38 adv)
Styx Pixie buff was wasted here; I was concerned about getting all the items I needed, but the wheel turns took so long that I probably would've gotten them anyway. I also probably used half the day's supply of medicinal herbs here. DD detour was to burn off cunctatitis.

Code: Select all

Three turns, wow.

Code: Select all

[49-47] Vacation

[29-4] The Oasis
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 29)
   -> Get stone rose (Turn 29)
   -> Get drum machine (Turn 4)
So I get all excited when I get the stone rose on the first turn and a blur on the second turn. Then I get beat up by the blur because I forgot to unequip the comedy prop. Then I can't find another blur. At least I get a bunch of food.

[2] The Oasis
   -- Drink overpriced beer x7 (+14 adv)
[15-12] The Arid, Extra-Dry Desert
   -> Get worm-riding hooks (Turn 12)
11 turns, 9 drunk, 1 fullness remaining. If I wanted to maximize turngen today, I'd do the Spookyraven cellar now in hopes of glyph 4 wines. But I ran out of medicinal herbs a while back, and healing is expensive (even with Tongue of the Otter, which I bought early in the run). Better to wait until tomorrow when I'm a bit bigger.

Code: Select all

   -- Drink overpriced beer x9 (+18 adv)
[29-18] The F'c'le
   -> Get barrrnacle (Turn 18)
[17-15] The Poop Deck
   -> Familiar: cocoabo (Turn 17)
[12] The Castle in the Clouds in the Sky
   -> Get inhaler
[11-7] The Poop Deck
   -- Eat fortune cookie (+1 adv)
[7-1] Belowdecks
   -> Get gaudy key (Turn 2)
   -- Drink whiskey sour (+6 adv)
   -- Get Brother Smothers' Blessing
A disappointing day. Castle/Gnasir took so long that I hardly had time for anything else. Reason for getting Smothers' blessing now: I realized that tomorrow, I want to Corsican my lep at the dooks in preparation for the nuns (so I can't grab Corsican now and get Smothers tomorrow at my leisure). Not the best planning on my part.

Status at end of day:
- Level 11 (111 muscle)
- Turncount: 996
- Quest progress: Gnasir done, got 1 gaudy key; HitS open; still need to finish trapzor
- Familiar status: have all but potato
- Food supplies: grue egg, brown sugar cane x2, cactus fruit, centipede eggs, savoy truffle x2 (16 fullness)

--Day 9--

Since I still have Smothers' blessing running from yesterday, the first order of business is Spookyraven.

Code: Select all

[51-47] The Haunted Ballroom
   -> We'll All Be Flat (Turn 47)
[46-44] Spookyraven Wine Cellar
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 46)
   -> Get dusty bottle of Zinfandel (Turn 46)
   -> Get dusty bottle of Port (Turn 45) [upper right]
   -> Get dusty bottle of Merlot (Turn 44)
Nice and fast, though I don't get any extra glyph 4 wines. I don't think it's worth it to farm more. With luck I'll be drinking hippy schnapps today.

Code: Select all

[43-40] Belowdecks
   -> Familiar: cocoabo (Turn 43)
   -> Get gaudy key (Turn 40)
[39-18] The Palindome
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 39)
   -> Get stunt nuts (Turn 33)
   -> Get ketchup hound (Turn 25)
   -> Familiar: cocoabo (Turn 24)
[17-16] Cobb's Knob Laboratory
[15] Whitey's Grove
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy
   -> Get lion oil
[14] Cobb's Knob Laboratory
   -> Get Mega Gem
[13] Cook grue egg omelette
   -- Eat grue egg omelette, fishy fish casserole (+34 adv)
[46-37] The Hidden Temple
It occurs to me that I don't have any good sources of elemental damage. Note to self: Run fairy belowdecks next time in hopes of grungy bandana.

Flaming talons + imp unity ring + filthy knitted dread sack + bloody clown pants would give me 16 damage/round, which would take me 7 turns to kill a 100 HP spectre, and I can't survive that long. So my plan is to uncover the spectres/altars and then leave. When I come back to flyer, I'll grab the BM adventure from guano junction for +10 stench. Between that and a possible obsidian dagger, I should be able to take the spectres and the boss.

(edit: I was mixing up the boss spectre and the small ones -- the small ones only have 85 HP. Still a good thing I chose to wait.)

Code: Select all

[36-20] The Hidden City
   -> 2 free runaways used (GOTO)
Wait, I have to defeat Spookyraven now if I want to use Preternatural Greed for the nuns.

Code: Select all

[19-16] The Beanbat Chamber
   -> Familiar: volleyball (Turn 19)
   -> BM adventure (slight resistance to all elements)
   -- Use can of black paint
[15] Summoning Chamber
And I'm all set to powerlevel to 12 and start the war.

Code: Select all

   -- Eat brown sugar cane x2, cactus fruit, centipede eggs (+26 adv)
[40-5] The Haunted Gallery
   -> Level 12 (Turn 5)
   -- Drink cream stout, grapefruit schnapps, overpriced beer x9 (+24 adv)
My goal for the day has quickly degenerated from "finish orchard quest before drinking" to "finish orchard quest, period."

Code: Select all

[28-10] The Hippy Camp (Filthy Hippy outfit)
   -- Buy Double-Fisted Skull Smashing
[9-2] The Orcish Frat House (War Hippy outfit)
   -> Familiar: cocoabo (Turn 6)
   -> Screw this, head to the roof (Turn 2)
   -- Drink overpriced beer x4 (+8 adv)
[9-6] The Hatching Chamber
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 9)
   -> Styx Pixie buff: Hella Smooth (Turn 9)
[5] The Feeding Chamber
[4-3] The Royal Guard Chamber
[2] The Queen's Chamber
   -> Familiar: leprechaun
   -> Get Brother Corsican's Blessing
   -- Drink plum wine x2 (+12 adv)
   -- Eat creamsicle (+1 adv)
[14-5] McMillicancuddy's Barn
[4-1] McMillicancuddy's Pond
   -- Drink old-fashioned (+6 adv)
8-turn filthworms, woo. (edit: derp, forgot flushed, but oh well) A 10-dayer looks impossible at this point considering 8-bit/HitS are undone, but an 11-dayer should be quite doable.

Status at end of day:
- Level 12 (129 muscle)
- Turncount: 1152
- War started, filthworms done, dooks half-done
- Stuff left for flyering: 8-bit, HitS, protector spectres, Dr. Awkward, pyramid
- Familiar status: have all but potato

--Day 10--

Code: Select all

[61] McMillicancuddy's Pond
[60-56] McMillicancuddy's Back 40
   -> Get Corsican's blessing (Turn 56)
[55-51] McMillicancuddy's Other Back 40
Lep is 8 pounds now, which is pretty nice.

Code: Select all

   -- Get Preternatural Greed
   -- Use inhaler
[50-36] The Themthar Hills
[35] The Sleazy Back Alley
   -> Get distilled fortified wine x3
[34-22] The Themthar Hills
   -> Styx Pixie buff: Hella Smooth (Turn 31)
Dime plans:
- filthy poultices - Going to need a lot of these for gremlins/flyering.
- macrame net - Maybe 4 or 5 of these for the Man. Probably don't need them for the NS.
- hippy army MPEs - Crimbo pies are 8-14 adv. Super salads are 13-16. Right now, I don't think I'll need to pump turngen to clear in 11 days, but I'd rather play it safe in case the tower decides to be a douchebag. So I'll get a few MPEs, but if I don't get many wildflower greens then I won't sweat it.

Given the quantity of poultices I expect to need, I'm going to run a fairy on the battlefield. Loss of volley stats probably won't be a big problem considering how much stuff I have undone.

Code: Select all

[21-1] The Battlefield
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 21)
   -- Drink plum wine x8 (+39 adv)
[39-36] The Battlefield
[35-31] Next to that Barrel With Something Burning in It
   -> Familiar: cocoabo (Turn 35)
[30-29] Over Where the Old Tires Are
[28-24] Near an Abandoned Refrigerator
[23-19] Out by that Rusted-Out Car
   -> Get gremlin juice (Turn 22)
[18-2] The Battlefield
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 18)
   -- Get jam band flyers (Turn 1)
   -- Drink distilled fortified wine x3 (+17 adv)
   -- Eat super salad, crimbo pie x4, fortune cookie (+57 adv)
My plan to get tons of dimes and be overflowing with poultices for use when flyering didn't work, because I've been using up my poultices. I ran out of medicinal herbs and nun heals in the middle of the gremlins. Healing is getting expensive. I'm down to 1035 meat, though I have a decent amount of random crap in my inventory to sell.

New plan: Get potato now. Use potato for MacGuffin-related flyering. (DD is decent. Two locked doors. Faster than conservatory, maybe?)

Code: Select all

[75-70] Daily Dungeon
   -> Familiar: cocoabo (Turn 71)
   -> Get fat loot token (Turn 70)
[69-42] 8-Bit Realm
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 69)
   -- Get digital key (Turn 41)
[41-32] The Hidden City
   -> Familiar: potato (Turn 41)
[31] The Palindome
Turns out that I don't need a BM damage effect to clear the Hidden City. War hippy fatigues + kick-ass kicks + imp unity ring gives me 30 elemental damage, which is plenty.

Potato hasn't blocked a single attack so far. The block rate, which I should have looked up before trying this, is apparently 1.5 * wt%. Screw that. I'm switching to cocoabo in the upper chamber, and fairy in the middle chamber for ancient magi-wipes.

Code: Select all

[30-21] The Upper Chamber
   -> Familiar: cocoabo (Turn 30)
   -> Get carved wooden wheel
[20-1] The Middle Chamber
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 20)
   -> Get ancient bronze token (Turn 12)
   -> Get ancient bomb (Turn 6)
   -- Drink plum wine (+6 adv)
Not an elegant day, but an adequate one. Home stretch is tomorrow.

Status at end of day:
- Level 12 (141 muscle)
- Turncount: 1326
- Tasks remaining: finish middle chamber + Ed, HitS, finish war, tower
- Have all familiars and all keys except Richard's star key

--Day 11--

Code: Select all

[51-45] The Middle Chamber
   -> Ed's chamber open (Turn 45)
[44-25] The Hole in the Sky
   -> Olfact astronomer (Turn 32)
[24] The Limerick Dungeon
   -> Get cyclops eyedrops
[23-6] The Hole in the Sky
   -> Get star hat, star sword, star starfish, Richard's star key
I olfact the second astronomer I find. This is deliberate -- I figure that if I olfact the first, I'll be swimming in star charts before the end, but a third might take too long to show up. This is also a pretty bad miscalculation. Astronomers are everywhere and I can't shrug the trail because I have only one sgeea (which I need to save in case of gate teleportitis). I wind up with 10 extra star charts. At least it's a lucre-neutral mistake because I picked up an astronomer bounty earlier.

Code: Select all

   -- Eat crimbo pie x3 (+33 adv)
[38-20] The Battlefield
[19] The Orcish Frat House
[18-12] Ed the Undying
   -> Familiar: volleyball (Turn 18)
[11-9] The Haunted Gallery
   -> Level 13 (Turn 9)
I buff up to defeat the Man, for a total of 403 muscle (wereseal blood + ben-gal + strength bang potion + true grit + fish-liver oil + sugar rush + Mick's IcyVapoHotness + spiky hair + chalky hand). Probably overkill but whatever. While the buffs are still running, I go fight Ed. That puts me less than 70 substats from level 13.

Gate items: gremlin juice, tamarind gum, object detection. Don't have gum, but have the other two (gremlin juice dropping naturally in-run while I was running a cocoabo, heck yes).

Code: Select all

[8-7] South of the Border

[20-18] The Sorceress' Tower

[17-14] Guano Junction
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 17)
   -> Get baseball (Turn 14)
[13-12] The Sorceress' Tower
   -> Familiar: volleyball (Turn 13)
[11-10] The Lair of the Ninja Snowmen
   -> Familiar: baby gravy fairy (Turn 11)
   -> Get frigid ninja stars (Turn 10)
[9-8] The Sorceress' Tower
   -> Familiar: volleyball (Turn 9)
One hedge maze.

Tower: NG (have), razor-sharp can lid (don't have), torpedo (have), baseball (don't have), ninja stars (don't have), stick of dynamite (have).

Code: Select all

[7] The Sorceress' Chamber
[6-2] The Naughty Sorceress
   -> Familiar: cocoabo (Turn 6)
Outfit: mesh cap, asbestos apron, lead pipe, LEW offhand, bp corduroys, pirate fledges, badass belt, war medal. I suicide four times against the NS to reduce blocking (well, the first fight starts out semi-serious, but pretty quickly turns into a suicide). Winning battle: Spam thrust-smack against first form, use scented massage oil and then chloroform rag against second form, spam thrust-smack until she dies.

1 adventure, 1 fullness, all drunkenness remaining.
