I See Earthquakes and Lightning - Creelie's BM PM 12/1590

Post by Creelie » Tue Apr 29, 2014 12:50 pm

This is my 5th BM run, and the 1st of my 2 Myst class BM runs. The planned perm is Spirit of Rigatoni.

I am excited for this run because I will have access to noodles, which is a powerful argument for NOT FARMING LIMES, yahoo! I will however set foot in the Menagerie for a single cherry for Staff of the Soupbone, and I am considering farming spices the same way I have farmed limes in the past.

Here's how Day 1 went:
=== DAY 1 ===

[1-90] Day 1 turns (+333 Mysticality) [Blood-Faced Volleyball, Mosquito, No familiar]
  • [#] (none) (+115 Mysticality) [No familiar]
    • [#] Hell's Kitchen (+30 Mysticality) [No familiar]
      Leveled to 3!
[1-8] The Spooky Forest (+20 Mysticality) [No familiar]
[9] The Typical Tavern Cellar [No familiar]
    • [9] a drunken rat [No familiar]
      Beaten up.
[10-12] The Haiku Dungeon (+5 Mysticality) [Mosquito, No familiar]
[13] The Typical Tavern Cellar [Mosquito]
    • [13] a drunken rat [Mosquito]
      Beaten up.
[14-16] The Haiku Dungeon (+6 Mysticality) [Mosquito]
[17-26] The Haunted Pantry (+16 Mysticality) [Mosquito]
    • [25] an undead elbow macaroni (+5 Mysticality) [Mosquito]
      Leveled to 4!
[27-34] The Sleazy Back Alley (+16 Mysticality) [Mosquito]
[35-45] The Typical Tavern Cellar (+27 Mysticality) [Mosquito]
    [46-48] A Barroom Brawl (+12 Mysticality) [Blood-Faced Volleyball]
    • [#] Drank 3x Typical Tavern swill [16 adventures gained] (+5 Mysticality) [Blood-Faced Volleyball]
[#] Drank Mad Train wine [3 adventures gained] [Blood-Faced Volleyball]
[49-62] The Sleazy Back Alley (+39 Mysticality) [Blood-Faced Volleyball]
[63-69] The Spooky Forest (+20 Mysticality) [Blood-Faced Volleyball]
[70-82] The Outskirts of Cobb's Knob (+34 Mysticality) [Blood-Faced Volleyball]
    • [72] Lunchboxing [Blood-Faced Volleyball]
      Semirare!
[#] Drank thermos full of Knob coffee [5 adventures gained] (+5 Mysticality) [Blood-Faced Volleyball]
[83-90] The Spooky Forest (+23 Mysticality) [Blood-Faced Volleyball]
    • [#] Drank bottle of sake [3 adventures gained] [Blood-Faced Volleyball]
Stumbled more than a little today. Thought I might save meat on the BFV by getting a smiling rat. Forgot that as an unmitigated myst class both my HP and early damage output are pitiful. Got beaten up. Bought more Ailment Ointments than planned so had no meat to do anything. Farted around with a mosquito and then a vampieroghi to try and keep from getting beaten up. Couldn't resist getting a bunch of early PM skills - I think PMs have the very best early guild skills. All in all, my "turns to volleyball" were way too high. Still, I managed to get my SR, everything I needed from the early zones except a chef hat and a spooky sapling, and my leprechaun along with a volleyball.

My big goal for tomorrow is to get 2500 meat ASAP for Bind Vermincelli (MP regen) and the wonderful Pastamastery, to make available boring spaghetti and painful penne pasta. More specific goals include:
-check bounty for anything better than the Treasury bounty I picked up Day 1. I won't be farming limes, but I AM considering farming spices.
1. Meatcar, turn in, go back for 2000 BM meat from Garage and frilly skirt from Gym.
2. Pick up anticheese, get 4000 BM meat from SotB.
3. While beaten up: Forest to sapling, Barrels, Outskirts for chef hat, Haiku Dungeon for Knob mushroom.
4. Guano Junction to 2 sonars.
5. Beanbats to 1 bean, closet.
5a. 3rd sonar if somehow missing.
6. Cemetary to +meat BM buff.
7. Hella Smooth, hairspray/balm/mascara, leprechaun, bats.
8. Cemetary if tower not unlocked yet. Make all skeleton keys possible, closet 1.
9. If at least 15 turns left, do DD.
10. Pixel farming, only if I happened across a Knob mushroom and made a fairy.

Assuming you have the VIP key and the recipe, you can farm marzipan skulls and scrumptious reagents instead.

Oh, you want to save your swill for nightcaps. Drink imported beer to fill your liver. It's a little pricey, but thats what BM meat adv are for!

Sadly I have yet to get around to learning the recipe.

I might save swill on my last run, but without AC garnishes it's only 3 drunk.

Yeah, it's only 3 drunk, but it's the best 3 drunk drink you have in the 1st 3 days. And it's actually less turn gen than drinking 3 imported beer.

[#] Drank whiskey and soda [6 adventures gained] [Baby Gravy Fairy]
I even got Beaten Up by my FOOD! Painful penne pasta is a punishing meal.

Everything sucks without a fairy. Tried to get a mushroom from Knob kitchens, failed. Finally brute-forced it from Haiku Dungeon, with subsequent marginal improvements in my results. Also I really miss Sympathy. Did manage to double up +meat buffs to take on bats - even got extra meat due to losing the jump to Boss Bat and being one-shotted TWICE before finally remembering that I had Entangling Noodles at the same time that I finally got the jump.

I will say that Vermincelli is a goddamn delight. It's a beautiful thing to not have to churn my meat into HP -or- MP.

Tomorrow:
-check bounty.
-whenever Beaten Up, farm Outskirts for chef hat.
1. Finish pixel farming. I am determined to fit this in at a level-appropriate time, and that time is now.
2. DD, get a breath spray. I barely used it on my muscle runs but I am a lot more fragile now.
3. Barracks to KGE outfit.
4. Billiards to Library key and spare chalk.
5. Set MCD to 3.
6. Treasury to Animal Exploiter BM buff.
7. Hella Tough, chalk, any other beneficial effects lying around, and kill King and Baron.
8. Finish Treasury bounty unless I swapped it for something better (Funhouse would be ideal.)
9. Funhouse to LEW and box.
10. Tower for brain.

If you have anything else to do, I would recommend skipping pixels. Pixels are the thing to do at level 7-9 if beaten up (at 10 you start to get tiny houses, which remove beaten up). Pixels are also really nice for flyering, assuming you don't set up GMoB. With noodles, I never set up GMoB as a PM. Doing GMoB is still a turn reducer vs. not flyering as a Myst class, even though PM doesn't need it for the tower fams.

I also recommend staying in the library until you get a stinky cookbook. That +cannon will take care of all your combat needs until Soupbone. Likewise, pick up the Spookyraven skill Fearful Fettucini, as that will be your big spell later in the run, in case you need a big spell.

Thanks for the tips! I heard about the stinky cookbook.

Regarding flyers, are you suggesting doing it for a faster battlefield even though the buff is not needed for the tower?

Yeah. Setting up the GMoB is faster than not flyering, even for non-myst classes. Myst classes should, at the very least, set up the GMoB.

Of course, before everyone had a stun, GMoB was a sanity vs. turns trade off. Now that everyone can stun, it is a different equation.

That makes sense. I suppose, given how much I'm getting beaten up right now, I should save an activity for that at later levels :/ Pixels, reserved. And considering I'm not feeling up to pushing ML, I'll definitely need to powerlevel in the Bathroom, so it won't be a big deal to set up GMoB.

Day 3

Post by Creelie » Thu May 01, 2014 12:22 pm

=== DAY 3 ===

[196-304] Day 3 turns
  • [196-204] The Daily Dungeon
    • [#] Ate flavorless gruel [9 adventures gained]
[#] Ate mana curds [9 adventures gained]
      Leveled to 6!
[205-213] The Barrel Full of Barrels
    • [#] Drank martini [6 adventures gained]
[#] Drank monkey wrench [6 adventures gained]
[#] Drank screwdriver [6 adventures gained]
[#] Ate painful penne pasta [9 adventures gained]
      Beaten up.
    [214-221] 8-Bit Realm
    • [#] Ate painful penne pasta [9 adventures gained]
[#] Drank wine spritzer [5 adventures gained]
[#] Drank 2x overpriced "imported" beer [4 adventures gained]
    [222-232] Cobb's Knob Barracks
    [233] Cobb's Knob Harem
    [234-237] Cobb's Knob Kitchens
    [238-250] The Haunted Billiards Room
    [251] Cobb's Knob Treasury
    [252] The Sleazy Back Alley
    • [252] In the Still of the Alley
      Semirare!
    [253-259] Cobb's Knob Treasury
    [260] The Typical Tavern Cellar
[261-268] The Dark Heart of the Woods
    [269-296] The "Fun" House
    [297-298] Tower Ruins
[299-301] The Outskirts of Cobb's Knob
    [302-304] The Degrassi Knoll Garage
So after all that discussion, I had it in my head that "Pixels=a thing to do when you are Beaten Up" and went there after AGAIN dying to my own painful penne pasta (PPP). For some reason it doesn't show up here, but I "successfully" got beaten up in 8-Bit once as well. Used the rest of my jumbo muscle buff to start on the friars. That much funhouse was probably a waste of time, but I did come away with two very nice clownskin items for a myst class. I forgot to finish my bounty and finished the day trying to get a spring to complete my chef. The feeling of helpless fragility is starting to give way to a feeling of confident spellslinging and abundant Vermincelli MP.

Tomorrow:
1. Finish chef.
2. DD. The food has as good turngen as PPP and lots of stats. Fill up on DD food and PPP.
3. Finish Treasury bounty. I got a Harold's bell (banish) from the noob areas; should I use it on a Knob Goblin Accountant to make the bounty go a bit faster? Or is a single 20-turn banish more valuable elsewhere?
4. Friars.
5. Monocle, Eyedrops, pet spray, fairy, Kitchen, olfact Knob Goblin Master Chef, Burrito blessing and Hella Smooth buff, farm spices. Bank turns if any left after running out of Burrito Blessing.

Day 4

Post by Creelie » Fri May 02, 2014 11:32 am

=== DAY 4 ===

[305-400] Day 4 turns
  • [305-306] The Degrassi Knoll Garage
    [307-315] The Daily Dungeon
[316-323] The Barrel Full of Barrels
    • [#] Ate fortune cookie [1 adventure gained]
[#] Ate flavorless gruel [10 adventures gained]
[#] Ate painful penne pasta [8 adventures gained]
[#] Ate painful penne pasta [9 adventures gained]
[#] Ate painful penne pasta [9 adventures gained]
[#] Drank wine spritzer [6 adventures gained]
[#] Drank redrum [6 adventures gained]
[#] Drank salty dog [5 adventures gained]
[#] Drank strawberry daiquiri [5 adventures gained]
      [#] Drank 2x Cobb's Knob Wurstbrau [5 adventures gained]
    [324-344] Cobb's Knob Treasury
[345-349] The Dark Heart of the Woods
    • [345] a G imp
      Leveled to 7!
[350-365] The Dark Elbow of the Woods
[366-375] The Dark Neck of the Woods
    [376-400] Cobb's Knob Kitchens
    • [380] a Knob Goblin Master Chef
      On the trail!
[#] Drank whiskey sour [5 adventures gained]
Used Harold's bell on a Cobb's Knob oven instead of in the Treasury. First half of the farming cycle yielded 5 spices; was hoping for a few more, but there's one more half to go. I won't be making anything less than lo meins with these precious babies, which reveals the flaw in this plan: I can't start eating REALLY well until I've unlocked the hippy store. Ah well.

Tomorrow:
1. Finish spice farming cycle.
1a. After olfaction wears off, go get 1 cherry from Menagerie 1, for old-fashioned for Staff of the Soupbone.
2. Liver.
3. Grove to unlock Road.
4. Road.
5. Grove to 5000 BM meat if didn't drop while unlocking Road.
5a. While stats debuffed from meat adventure, Spooky Forest for spooky mushrooms for grue egg omelette and spooky lo mein (1 for Staff of the Soupbone).
6. Shore.
7. Camp if no hippy suit yet AND no herbs.
8. Start work on Cyrpt. Fairy nook and niche, leprechaun alcove and cranny. MCD TO 5 BEFORE BONERDAGON!!!!11!1

Twice before I have slain the Bonerdagon and Groar back-to-back with a Hella Tough buff, but that was as a muscle class. Likely to be much less successful as a myst class, and delays creating my chefstaff. This time I am going to go for the Bonerdagon sooner, and make the lump of diamond from the Mine the last part of the staff. Gotta remember to use a fairy on the lihces for a face.

Day 5

Post by Creelie » Fri May 02, 2014 11:45 pm

=== DAY 5 ===

[401-516] Day 5 turns
  • [401-420] Cobb's Knob Kitchens
    [421] Cobb's Knob Laboratory
    [422] Cobb's Knob Menagerie, Level 1
    • [422] a BASIC Elemental
      Beaten up.
[423-425] The Shore, Inc. Travel Agency
    [426-428] Cobb's Knob Menagerie, Level 1
    [429] The Limerick Dungeon
    • [429] ??? (complicated turn)
      Semirare!
      [#] Drank 2x margarita [12 adventures gained]
      [#] Drank 2x screwdriver [11 adventures gained]
[#] Drank Cobb's Knob Wurstbrau [2 adventures gained]
[#] Drank distilled fortified wine [6 adventures gained]
[#] Ate painful penne pasta [8 adventures gained]
[#] Ate painful penne pasta [7 adventures gained]
[#] Ate painful penne pasta [7 adventures gained]
[#] Ate painful penne pasta [8 adventures gained]
[#] Ate fortune cookie [1 adventure gained]
[#] Ate hot wing [1 adventure gained]
    [430-450] Infernal Rackets Backstage
    [451-472] The Laugh Floor
    [473-474] Whitey's Grove
[475-516] The Road to White Citadel
    • [#] Drank eggnog [5 adventures gained]
Well, it was an ambitious list. I got 8 spices, which is less than I'd hoped but I've done worse on a lime cycle. Not sure I'd recommend this strategy, but at least it was a nice change to farming up 8 million oranges and grapefruits I could have bought and a heap of cherries I could barely use. Still I'll probably schlump down to the menagerie (just once) for my final BM run (Sauceror).

Also, a spice farmer needs to be very careful not to accidentally make an eggnog with their new riches >_<

I'm not even done the Road and I'm at FOUR hippy dread sacks. Makes me want a zap wand pretty bad.

Tomorrow (continued list from today):
4. Road.
5. Grove to 5000 BM meat.
5a. While stats debuffed from meat adventure, Spooky Forest for spooky mushrooms for grue egg omelette and spooky lo mein (1 for Staff of the Soupbone).
6. Shore if hippy pants dropped on road.
7. Cyrpt. Fairy nook and niche, leprechaun alcove and cranny. MCD TO 5 BEFORE BONERDAGON!!!!11!1
8. Mine. Complete chefstaff.
9. Library for stench spellbook.
10. Start work on zap wand.

Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment, but I'd have turned on the song for then friar and gotten my spell book then. Stinky is strong vs hot and stench. You may also be playing at a more relaxed pace than I do. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't know that I could have gotten through the Bedroom. I got through the demons fine without the book - I more want it inboard for the bigger monsters.

And yes, I am playing at a pace that is, shall we say, ON THE LEISURELY SIDE. Especially since my 2-year hiatus; I put finishing my BM runs first to basically relearn the game from scratch. I'll start reordering tasks when I have a better grasp of what the list of tasks IS. Although to be perfectly honest it's all in the service of perming skills more efficiently. My inner diamond is a completionist more than a competitor.

Day 6

Post by Creelie » Sun May 04, 2014 12:03 am

=== DAY 6 ===

[517-662] Day 6 turns
  • [517-527] The Road to White Citadel
    • [#] Ate 3x Knob lo mein [52 adventures gained]
[#] Drank gin-soaked blotter paper [2 adventures gained]
[#] Drank 2x distilled fortified wine [11 adventures gained]
    [528-534] Whitey's Grove
    [535-541] The Spooky Forest
[542-544] The Shore, Inc. Travel Agency
    [545-555] The Defiled Nook
    • [#] Drank 3x wine spritzer [17 adventures gained]
[#] Drank 2x whiskey and soda [11 adventures gained]
[#] Ate sponge cake [3 adventures gained]
    [556-574] The Defiled Niche
    [575-586] The Defiled Cranny
    [587-603] The Defiled Alcove
    • [#] Used chest of the Bonerdagon
    [604-615] Itznotyerzitz Mine
[616] The Outskirts of Cobb's Knob
    • [616] Lunchboxing
      Semirare!
[#] Drank thermos full of Knob coffee [5 adventures gained]
    [617-619] Itznotyerzitz Mine
    [620-629] Itznotyerzitz Mine (in Disguise)
    • [621] Inside of Itznotyerzitz Mine
      Beaten up.
    [630-641] The Goatlet
    [642-654] The Haunted Library
    [655-662] The Enormous Greater-Than Sign
    • [#] Drank whiskey and soda [6 adventures gained]
I wish I understood how the Hellevator worked - wasted some turns there looking for 5th floor :( I am extremely lucky another herbs dropped, allowing me to make the planned spooky lo mein. Although there goes another spices :( And after all that pushing for my chefstaff, I need 75 myst to equip it and am 63 :( All in all, I feel a bit disappointed despite everything going according to plan. At least I got my spellbook quickly! I am still loving the Vermincelli, although the MP flow is actually pretty ridiculous; I have over 600 turns of the 3 buffs available to me due to burning off the excess. I swapped to angel hair wisp for modern zmobies and that went okay. Not sure any of the other thralls available in a BM run are worth buying.

Tomorrow:
-check bounty.
1. wand.

Re: I See Earthquakes and Lightning - Creelie's BM PM

Post by Creelie » Sun May 04, 2014 6:48 pm

Note to self: in light of the special events occurring on the 14th and 24th, I will be staying in aftercore until the 15th, perming Stringozzi Serpent instead of Spirit of Rigatoni, and doing my first automated Kolproxy run in HCNP PM (only class with the requisite class-specific stun permed) before staying in THAT aftercore until the 24th. This will allow me to grab a little extra karma, take a breath of fresh air outside of BM stifling-ness, and use the Proxy run as a benchmark for ways to improve my manual runs. Writing this here in my log as a reminder.

I decided to take most of the day off and farm Cincoween booze. Got my wand, 2/3 of the DoD outfit, and went back for a ring of aggravate monster to: 1) Obtain legit candies instead of Knob steroids, dwarf bread, or herb brownies, and 2) Have 1 more source of +ML for the Peaks. The farming went well; I can drink nothing but Cincoween booze until the probable end of the run if I really want, and have a few left over once I can drink Fog Murderer nightcaps. I could also probably go for most or all of the run covered in Sugar Rush, although it means -10% myst so I probably won't.

My spices are all gone already :( In their absence, looks like the best available turngen is PPP. Pretty bleak, although I have some tasty tarts and a grue egg omelette tomorrow for consolation. I just have to keep my chin up and hang on until the Castle, which actually has pretty good food, as does the MacGuffin quest.

Tomorrow:
1. Cove to suit.
2. Barrr.
3. Chasm.
4. A-Boo Peak to 4 clues.
5. Oil Peak if 20 ML available.
6. Twin Peaks +item, jar if Oil Peak was done.
-save resist (and init) tests for after killing Lord Spookyraven when I'll be buffed with a can of black paint, unless Fcle/Airship/Castle are very generous with their resist drops.
7. Bathroom to +item BM adventure.
7a. Start work on setting up GMoB while here.
8. Fcle with BM +item from Bathroom and Hella Smooth.

    [953] The Haunted Bedroom
    [954-957] The Haunted Library
    [958-970] The Penultimate Fantasy Airship
    • [#] Drank {???_item_7483_???} [8 adventures gained]
Today I learned that some monsters can shake off Entangling Noodles. Polysniff Perfume let me complete all parts of the Peaks except A-Boo; I am stockpiling resist items (including lihc eye pie and Rompedores de Fantasmas) until I can get it done with 3 clues. I found an incredible pizza! I feel smart for how I lined things up in the latter part of the day: Bathroom to BM +item, F'c'le (got an oil, yay!) with that and Hella Smooth, finished off +item buffs on Airship, Bedroom to key, Ballroom to -combat, Bedroom to hand mirror and SR quest, quick detour to Library (and I got a killing jar!) for learning Fearful Fettucini, then back to Airship with lovely -combat buff running from now until the end of the run. Smooth as buttah.

I am not so pressed for meat that I HAVE to line up Lord Spookyraven and A-Boo clues under can of black paint, but forcing myself to wait that long will help my HP a little. There's a very good chance that I will get there tomorrow, so I need to save 4 fullness and 3 drunk for pie and booze.

I would really like this next SR to fall in the Castle, but I don't think I'm going to make it (partway through Airship, SR coming up in 21 turns). So instead I think I need to go get a Menagerie key and start collecting pet snacks. I have all of a mosquito, anticheese, and saber teeth for the tower, so there's a very good chance I'm going to need 2 snacks. Thinking now of the Potato, I should get a token tomorrow too.

Tomorrow:
1. Lab to key.
2. DD.
3. Airship.
4. Castle. Equip umbrella for basement, turn on Burrito Blessing at ground floor, equip mohawk wig for top floor and Hella Smooth, hoping for 3 candles for meat demon for nuns.
5. Bathroom to 11 or GMoB set up. Cocoabo here to put weight on it.
5a. Farm pixels if GMoB set up and not 11 yet.
5b. Farm HitS if still not 11.
6. Black forest.
7. Shore. Get a UV thingy too.
8. Temple to unlock City.
9. Park with dumpster dives until machete.
9a. Unlock Hidden subzones.
10. Hospital until Tavern unlocked (via book of matches drop).
10a. Will be using Fog Murderer nightcaps from now until end.

    [1112-1125] The Hidden Park
    • [#] Ate stolen sushi [12 adventures gained]
[#] Drank Fog Murderer [16 adventures gained]
That was a horribly long airship, and the longest Temple I've had in forever, but I still slightly exceeded the ambitious to-do list I wrote for myself. I was jubilant at unlocking Fog Murderers today! On a whim I bought Gluttony and worked some more in the City using a stolen sushi. The guide I was following suggested staying in the Park to 3 bowling balls or 3 surgeon pieces, but then I realized that that was no longer applicable since I unexpectedly got the spectre in the Hospital while unlocking the Tavern. So I banished the janitors on literally my last turn for the day.

Tomorrow:
-save 4 full and 6 drunk.
-next SR should be an inhaler.
1. Bowling Alley with Scorpions.
2. Office.
3. Apartment after drinking 3 Cursed Punch.
4. Ziggurat (machete for 3 more lianas).
5. Ballroom to unlock basement.
6. Wine Cellar to unlock Lord Spookyraven.
7. All elemental resistances and HP maxed, kill Lord Spookyraven.
-NOT getting any BM prismatic resistance buffs, as they all decrease HP at the same time.
-Remember to eat 1 lihc eye pie and drink 1 Rompedores de Fantasmas.
-Didn't get 3 candles so might as well use 1 of the 2 I did get for +HP.
8. While still buffed (and healed after LSR), use 3 A-Boo clues.
9. Poop Deck to password.
10. Belowdecks to Talisman.
11. Palindome leg of quest.
12. Desert leg of quest, up to and including Ed (I'll be flyering the GMoB).
13. Bathroom to GMoB set up.
14. Pixels if still not level 12.
15. HitS if still not level 12.

    [1172] A-Boo Peak
[1173] The Castle in the Clouds in the Sky (Top Floor)
    • [1173] All The Rave
      Semirare!
    [1174-1176] A-Boo Peak
    [1177-1180] The Poop Deck
    [1181-1183] Belowdecks
    [1184-1199] Inside the Palindome
    • [#] ??? (complicated turn)
      Beaten up.
    [1200-1202] Whitey's Grove
    [1203-1212] The Arid, Extra-Dry Desert
    [1213-1220] The Oasis
    [1221-1224] The Arid, Extra-Dry Desert

    • [#] Drank Fog Murderer [14 adventures gained]
      [#] Used bit-o-cactus
      [#] Used handful of moss
One of my favorite items dropped today. I love it so much I composed a poem to it. Ahem:

Oh I have been a-questing for eleven levels long
Laboring in Bad Moon, unprotected by a song
When in the hidden city,
off a pygmy drops a pretty
little badge that rights every wrong!

Of all the badges going, the attorney's is the best
It's like a pet potato that you wear upon your chest
You think that you are done for, and Beaten Up you'll be,
but then you shout "OBJECTION!"
and bring mobs to their knees!

Thank you.

Waiting to use the clues paid off - I more than made it to the end of each. Choked that I didn't get into the castle fast enough for the previous SR to be an inhaler - then this inhaler could have been something else and the one coming up could have been a SECOND inhaler. Setting up the GMoB is going slowly, but I'm going to get it done before starting the war - puts me in a slightly better position for the gremlins, HP-wise. Finally zapped a lowercase N!

Tomorrow (and until the end, really):
-next SR should be massage oils.
-eat casseroles only, otherwise hold out for pies.
1. Finish setting up GMoB. I'll be 12 before this is done; that's okay.
2. Frat house wearing hippy suit. Get war hippy suit. (The guide suggests hippy camp because it doesn't think the guide-ee can handle the combats, but I feel like I can pull off getting the war hippy outfit in <20 turns from combats, and I CAN handle the combats.)
3. Frat house wearing war hippy outfit. Start war.
4. Filthworms.
5. Ground floor of Castle with leftover worm buffs, because I just realized I never got a chaos butterfly. How many turns before I am better off doing the quest without the butterfly? A butterfly saves 15 turns at the Dooks. Let's say I try for at least 5 turns, or however much longer it takes to run out the fancy +item buffs.
6. Cemetary to +meat BM buff.
7. Hella Smooth, inhaler, all possible +meat sources, leprechaun with pet spray, and do Nuns.
8. Dooks. Turn in quests before heading to Battlefield!
9. Battlefield to Junkyard.
10. Junkyard.
11. Battlefield to Arena.
12. Flyer GMoB. Turn in quest!
13. Battlefield to The Man.
14. filthy poultices. Nothing else; I got a ton of deleveling items from trick-or-treating.
15. The Man.
16. HitS.
17. Pixels.
18. Bathroom to 13 if necessary.
19. Lair!

    [1438-1439] The Battlefield (Hippy Uniform)
    • [#] Drank Fog Murderer [15 adventures gained]
The home stretch doesn't change much from run to run. Once I'm out of BM I'll just be deploying a lot more of the goodies I saved up over the course of the run, because I will have ACCESS to more goodies. NOTE: I sort of screwed up, thinking I could get the war hippy suit from the frat house - I got the frat suit much faster. I compensated by wearing the frat suit to start the war, fighting hippies in the process and getting my suit that way. That's part of setting up the Nuns trick, too, isn't it? Also I had my cyclops eyedrops run out on me in the Orchard for the first time - it occurs to me that special +item buffs should probably be deployed after the hatchling gland drops if things are tight, like in BM. The myst Cincoween booze ran out today, just in time to start my fabulous all-pears, all-the-time diet.

Tomorrow:
-next SR should be a second pet snacks.
11. Battlefield to Arena.
12. Flyer GMoB. Turn in quest!
13. Battlefield to The Man.
14. filthy poultices. Nothing else; I got a ton of deleveling items from trick-or-treating.
15. The Man.

Hell yeah, beat my daycount! Thanks to Cinco De Los Muertos for supplying me with good booze the whole run. It was close-ish, though; 1 bad tower item might have added another day, and 2 bad ones definitely would have.

Next up: farting around in aftercore to see the special content on the 14th, a Proxy NP run starting on the 15th, and farting around in that aftercore to see the special content on the 24th. After that holiday, my final Bad Moon run EVER: Sauceror!

Okay, so I noted this all excitedly when I first heard here, but on a calmer reading the 14th is just the day some new Spookyraven content gets released. Nothing limited-time.

With that information, and the fact that I can't check out Spring Break Beach while in BM aftercore :x , I'm thinking I'll ascend again after all. Still going to squeak out that NP run, though, because I've got a road trip coming up and farting around in aftercore is the perfect time to miss a day.

Florist Friar doesn't exist in BM aftercore. either. The good news: unless you are doing a kittycore run, you can go to the Options Menu and drop BM, and the aftercore goodies are available. You lose the Styx Pixie, and any BM adv you havent gotten.

I suppose it is true that I did the run for the brimstone. Does it change your ascension history record to a regular HCNP run?

I don't know why whoremoans didn't feel the need to explain to you that it's impossible to get the BM meat adventure from Whitey's Grove before unlocking the Road to the White Citadel.

It is also unnecessary to spend a single turn on the Road the trigger to unlock the BM adventure is the "It's a sign adventure" that unlocks the road.

I actually sussed out that something like that was the case on my current run where I ran low on meat before finishing the Road. Thanks for clarifying though; more info is always better!

IMO the Road is a good place to be in BM regardless. It has the best drop rate for the hippy suit, and the rabbit's foot is an excellent piece of gear.

You know that you can get the hippy outfit from non combat at level 9 from the hippy camp right? At level 12 you'll get nonthing but stats non combats/outfit too. It takes about 10 turns or less to get at those levels for non combat adventures.

and the rabbit's foot does what 7% item + 7% meat?

Rabbit's foot is 2% better than observational glasses, 3% worse than a Baron monocle and the monocle takes a ton less turns. It's about 2-3% better than the +item stuff that could be found on the level 9 quest, but the level 9 quest must be done so it's not wasting adventures. The war medal is better too right?

Outfit restrictions would sometimes prevent 3 accessories too so I don't think it's as excellent as you believe.

I realize that you might like doing the quest or whatever and that's fine, but it's a pretty big waste of time and since there's not a lot of adventures in BM I hate wasting them.

Sorry, I'm confused now. What happens at level 9 to make the hippy camp a good place to be? The suit may be fastest to get at level 12, but I like to get it before then for fruit for booze, and as a Sauceror for potions. Between the Road and the Camp, the suit pieces have a much better drop rate on the Road.

It's nice to have the monocle, foot, AND glasses. You can't have all 3 all the time, it's true, especially when you're wearing an outfit, but much of BM is spent trying to farm drops, including outfit drops. There aren't many sources of +item, so the ones that are simple to get are precious.

The outfit drops from non combat adventures after level 9, they happen quickly and often. Well 85% combat zone with a ballroom song on, takes ~10 turns to get the outfit...

I agree easily acquired +item stuff should be gotten.
