My checkers, let me show you them

For stuff related to KoLmafia, KoLproxy, Ascension Log Visualizer, and greasemonkey scripts. Maybe other stuff too.

My checkers, let me show you them

Post by csemaj » Sat May 10, 2008 5:40 pm

Edit: Now found at alliancefromhell.com/cgi-bin/hobo/ and maintained by Eleron

As many may know, I've written a few quick and dirty web apps that show you what you're missing. I thought I'd post them here, and update this thread when I add more (like I did today).

http://alliancefromhell.com/cgi-bin/hobo/skillChecker.cgi
http://alliancefromhell.com/cgi-bin/hobo/trophyChecker.cgi
http://alliancefromhell.com/cgi-bin/hobo/familiarChecker.cgi
http://alliancefromhell.com/cgi-bin/hobo/tattooChecker.cgi
http://alliancefromhell.com/cgi-bin/hobo/hoboChecker.cgi

Also, there are a couple of GM scripts I've written:

http://www.sngx.net/kol/hobocodechecker.user.js (version 0.0.2)
http://www.sngx.net/kol/tattoochecker.user.js (version 0.0.2)

I post updates to these here as well, so check back from time to time to make sure yours are up to date.

Enjoy!

Wow, turns out I'm missing some easily acquired stuff too.

4 elemental fairies, scary death orb, evil teddy bear, and misshapen skeleton are all easily acquired familiars I'm missing.

Once I get those, I'll be up to 73 familiars (74 if you count the ever-absent blackbird  ).

One that'll take awhile: jumpsuited hound dog.

Probably never: Jill, Crimbo Elf, Baby Yeti, Feather boa, emo squid

Wow, I have a paltry 44 or so, but I am missing a few of the easier ones (elemental fairies, MAS...).

Thanks to whomever for the sticky!

These are excellent! I too was somehow lacking an evil teddy bear, even though I had 40 of them in storage.

Any chance of making the familiar one work from the 'manage familiar names' page? That way it would work in Bad Moon also.

My first thought was to wonder why there was a thread about the checkers board game here. These look useful, I'll be using them when I log in next time.

This looks great, thanks for posting it.

One small bug--the Festive Dismemberment trophy is still (apparently) available, as it was discovered in 2007 that it can be earned any July 4th; your checker says that it's no longer available, as it could only be earned in 2006.

According to a comment above, you can use the familiar renaming page while in BM to view all of your familiars. The program was modified to use this data as well as the default terrarium view.

Edit: I've added a note to the familiar checker page point people doing BM runs in that direction.

The skill checker breaks if you're running Naltrexone's WikiLink GM script (highly recommended, by the way, very useful script) as it chokes on the little " w " inserted in the plain text paste by the script after each skill name.

Sample input below:
Skills:
(click the skill name for a description)
Liver of Steel w
Torso Awaregness w (HP)
CLEESH w
Transcendent Olfaction w
Pulverize w (HP)
Musk of the Moose w (HP)
Wisdom of the Elder Tortoises w (HP)
Amphibian Sympathy w (HP)
Tao of the Terrapin w (HP)
Entangling Noodles w (HP)
Pastamastery w (HP)
Leash of Linguini w (HP)
Advanced Saucecrafting w (HP)
Impetuous Sauciness w (HP)
Mad Looting Skillz w (HP)
Disco Power Nap w (HP)
Advanced Cocktailcrafting w (HP)
Ambidextrous Funkslinging w (HP)
Smooth Movement w (HP)
Superhuman Cocktailcrafting w (HP)
Moxie of the Mariachi w (P)
Aloysius' Antiphon of Aptitude w (HP)
The Moxious Madrigal w
The Magical Mojomuscular Melody w (HP)
Fat Leon's Phat Loot Lyric w (HP)
The Ode to Booze w (HP)
The Sonata of Sneakiness w (HP)
Transcendent Olfaction w (HP)
[show permanent skills you can't use right now] w
Gnomish Hardigness w (P)
Sauce Contemplation w (P)
(P) = Permanent skill
(HP) = Hardcore Permanent skill

I know what you mean - I have:
PBS
Comma Chameleon
Astral Badger
Hat Rack
Casagnova Gnome
and all the parts for the Megadrone

Those plus the blackbird will give me 62. This is a great tool csemaj. Thanks.

It shouldn't be too hard, actually. I'll have to check the exact formatting after rollover to be sure, but if you're using Perl and parsing each line, it should be as easy as:
$_=~s/ w / /;

That'll replace the " w " with " ", if the former appears.

Ooh, regexes. Deus, do you know how to code perl? That comes in very handy for spading, where a few regexs can automate mind-numbing data collection.

Not as much as I used to. I still do, just kind of rusty, but I'm not too bad with regexes.

I don't think it'd be as easy, since the tattoos don't have any text associated with them, but I could be wrong.

In the meantime, there's this KoLMafia script.

Yeah, this is basically what's holding up my tattoo checker. I think the only way I could get it to work would be to have people copy/paste the HTML source of their tattoo page.

Ok, I have engineered a solution. While looking at the source code for the tattoo page, I noticed the hashed password is there, so I didn't really want to have people pasting that into my web app, for privacy/security reasons. So, I have written a greasemonkey script that adds the tattoo name under each tattoo, so you can copy/paste them much easier. I'll add a link to this script on the tattooChecker.cgi page when it's complete, with the obvious caveat that IE users are screwed as far as my app goes (and, well, they deserve to be screwed if they're still using IE :D )

I'll update the first post when the tattoo checker is ready! If anyone wants to tryout the GM script, it's here: http://www.sngx.net/kol/tattoochecker.user.js

OK I have a question - BTW love the checkers.

I have no idea how these things work - aside for the fact it does something to do with reading and deciphering the text. Is there a way that it could take the results from the checker and rank them based on overall weight (in case your highest is not this run's highest). You know so you can have a visual depiction of the most used familiars.

If you can't, no worries.

Well, these don't really work that way, it's more a boolean you have it/you don't have it kind of thing. I believe Vlad's kolmafia log parser does what you mention though, so you may want to look into that.

As a tip, if you have the color KoL script you need to disable it (with firefox) otherwise it won't pull up the filename and throw your count off.

EDIT: BTW, these checkers are FTW

There's no DNS A record for sngx.net. So it might still be up somewhere, but sngx.net isn't going to point to it.

Someone mentioned this in /clan last night (Alrik i think?) and I agree: the hobo code checker would be best suited to a greasemonkey script, but if enough people aren't using greasemonkey (AND YOU SHOULD!), I can whip up a hobo code checker. In fact, thinking about it, I may do both...

Version 0.0.1 of the Hobo Code GM script is ready:http://www.sngx.net/kol/hobocodechecker.user.js

Also, if you're using the Tattoo GM script, you should update it. I had a lot of junk in there from when I had copied it over (I generally always start with a pre-existing script when I create a new one). That was causing all sorts of errors to be generated in the javascript error console on FireFox.http://www.sngx.net/kol/tattoochecker.user.js

The tattoo checker is incorrectly reporting that I have all of the normal ascension tattoos (I have all the HC ascension tattoos, and two normal ascension tattoos.)

Also, I know someone on the main forums was asking about the glyph checker--is it okay if I post this thread there?

Sure, go for it.

deusnoctum wrote:The tattoo checker is incorrectly reporting that I have all of the normal ascension tattoos (I have all the HC ascension tattoos, and two normal ascension tattoos.)

Fixed: the issue was standard asc tats are named "ascXX.gif", whereas the HC ones are "hascXX.gif". My program checks to see if "ascXX.gif" is in the data submitted, which it is when you have the matching HC one.

The tattoo checker is a 403 forbidden fruit for me!

Also, what's the feasibility of a discovery checker?

Love your work.

I love these checkers, I use the skill checker all the time when planning my ascensions.

And for that I have a request: Would it be possible to create a "permalink" to the result page of the checkers? That way it would be easier to show your clannies exactly what skills you have right now.

Sorry all, I've been on KOL autopilot mode, and have a lot of updating to do for checkers.

feng shweez wrote:The tattoo checker is a 403 forbidden fruit for me!

Also, what's the feasibility of a discovery checker?

Love your work.

Feng, is this still an issue? As for discovery checkers, it should be possible. I've started contributing code to an open source project, so it gets a lot of my free time currently, so this won't be added for a while. More importantly, I'd like to write Mafia and/or GM scripts that allow you to get the trophies. If anyone knows of some that have been written already, let me know :D

tissen wrote:And for that I have a request: Would it be possible to create a "permalink" to the result page of the checkers? That way it would be easier to show your clannies exactly what skills you have right now.

Hrm, this would require data storage of some kind, which means some kind of login/account system or something like a pastebin style random ID for reference... it could be done but would take a little work :)

Yeah, I try to update them every couple months or so, but like I said I've been on autopilot for a bit. If I ever decide to quit on them I'll tar up the source code (it's all python) and let people download it from the site.

Not necessarily. You could encode the results into a query variable as part of the "permalink" url. If that variable were present and well formed it could be used to recreate the results page from the initial parsing, otherwise the input page would be displayed.

This was the way I was imaging it. Create a bitmap of all the skills/tattoos/etc, and then hex-code it in the permalink URL (or somethng to that effect). New skills would have to be tagged on at the end to keep it consistent, so maintenance could be a bit rough after a while.

If you have the source code public, I could take a stab at it myself.

There are a couple new skills that need to be added to this now (Deep Saucery and Tempuramancy). There should be at least one sea skill per class, so it probably makes the most sense to add them in a new row, like the Spookyraven skills.

Also, you should take credit for your work by putting your name on the page somewhere, so people know who to admire!

Added the two new sea skills, with a new row anticipating the rest to arrive later. Also, I added the perma-link option suggested above, happy linking :)

For the geeks interested in how it works, basically each skill is assigned an index number. This is used as a lookup into a long integer, with each skill getting 2 bits. This value of these bits is read as follows: 0=missing, 1=not permed, 2=permed, 3=hc permed. This bitmap array is then base64 encoded (LSB first), using python's urlsafe_b64encode method (since default Base64 has a few url unfriendly characters in it).

I hope to port this method into the other checkers, so that all of them will have this functionality in the near future.

As for getting credit, I don't really worry about it :)

Wow, this is awesome. I have already seen several permalinks in chat, and it looks glorious. Keep up the good work!

For all the people who wanted a discoveries checker, Atro posted this link in chat:

http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/38148

I've never seen the name before, but the script appears to be clean. For some reason, it doesn't appear to work properly unless you have inventory images turned on. Also, it appears to be tied to the wiki discoveries page, so certain things (like the fumble formula and vampire pearl items) still aren't on here, nevermind the fact that it only updates weekly.

The skill checker is missing the last two sea skills (the moxie ones -- "Donho's Bubbly Ballad" (AT) and "Salacious Cocktailcrafting" (DB)).

Second: [REDACTED]

Feng Shweez: where?
Rupatupa: You can. Click the [show permanent skills you can't use right now] button.

Very useful checkers for quick and easy viewing of what I'm missing. Thank you for them!

Not sure if they're still being updated but they're missing some recent ones:

Skill Checker:
- Slimy Sinews
- Slimy Synapses
- Slimy Shoulders
- Salacious Cocktailcrafting
- Donho's Bubbly Ballad

Trophy Checker:
- Losing Your Marbles
- Hunter in Darkness
- For Professional Tour Guide, your checker says to have 20 different familiars used, but the wiki says 30 (which I believe is correct).

Familiar Checker:
- Frumious Bandersnatch
- Midget Clownfish
- Syncopated Turtle
- Grinning Turtle
- Purse Rat
- Wereturtle
- Baby Sandworm

Tattoo Checker:
- Wumpus-Hair Wardrobe
- Slimesuit
- Pork Elf Prizes
- Grimy Reaper's Vestments
- Dwarvish War Uniform

Ok, since I've been so busy lately (read: lazy), I've posted the source code on my website, and I'll be accepting patches from anyone who may want to send them to me.

If you do send me patches, please use unified diff format (diff -up) as it makes merging easier. If people are fans of git (it's the source control progam I use most), I can create a github repo for this. Otherwise send patches to jimi at sngx.net.

These scripts are all written in Python, and run on a very basic Apache setup (mod_python isn't even required).

I'll update the post up top with this info as well.

Cool! Thanks for opening up the source code. I like git as well so access to a git repo would be neat.

I just submitted some updates for these, which got put up. I was planning to keep them up to date, but getting git working on OS X Tiger on an Intel machine appears to be a huge hassle (I think an older computer or newer OS would make things easier). Keeping that zip file up to date doesn't seem likely, so hopefully someone that actually has git set up will keep the updates going.

Yes. The problem is that there's a library on my system (libiconv) that's the wrong version. I found what seemed to be instructions for updating it, but the new version gives me errors about being for the wrong architecture. If there is a solution to this, then I don't know enough about this stuff to figure it out.
